From Las Vegas to the Death Valley, passing through Monument Valley

Trip description

If you have 15 days and enjoy driving, so do not hesitate and go to the east of Las Vegas, beyond Bryce Canyon, towards Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument. Attention: you will have to get up very early every day and drive a lot to see everything! If the pace seems too fast, lift the foot and remove a few steps to further savour the place where you are. You will surely come back to visit this beautiful part of the West! From the 1st to the 15th day, 2 700 to 3 000 km to travel, without the detours due to visits. Summer is a season to be banned for this stay, because it is really too hot to hike in the parks.

Early in the morning, visit of Zion Canyon (by shuttle or on foot). Picnic or restaurant in the park. At the end of the afternoon, leave the park from the east, towards Bryce Canyon. Hiking to Bryce Canyon at sunrise. Picnic or restaurant in the park. In the afternoon, return to Mount Carmel, then go to the north shore of Grand Canyon. For those who would have taken the road late without booking accommodation in the park on North Rim, stop at Kanab for the night.

Day 7 : Grand Staircase and Escalante National Monument

Follow the magnificent Scenic Byway 12 which will lead you from Bryce Canyon to Moab through a remarkable route. At noon, stop at Boulder for lunch and visit the Anasazi State Park Museum. Passing through Capitol Reef National Park, don't miss the panoramic road. Overnight in Moab.

Day 8 : Arches National Park

Visit this national park, while taking the time to discover Moab and the surrounding area of Colorado. Overnight in Moab.

Day 9 : Canyonland National Park or Dead Horse Point State Park

Today, you have to make a choice between Canyonland NP and Dead Horse Point SP. Note that Canyonland is divided into three districts and that the most accessible and closer to Moab is Island in The Sky.

Day 10 : Monument Valley

On the road between Moab and Monument Valley, don't miss to stop in Bluff (which can also be your place of stay for the next night) and visit its old fort. For Monument Valley, you will have the choice between the tour with your own vehicle or the guided tour. Night at Monument Valley, Mexican Hat or Bluff. Avoid Kayenta, not very hospitable.

Day 11 : Page and Lake Powell

You cannot go to Page without being tempted to visit Antelope Canyon, the huge dam and take a boat tour on the lake. You have very little time and you may have to drop one of the three if you arrive at noon or after. Think of leaving early in the morning from your accommodation of the day before and book in advance for your next visit of Antelope Canyon. Night in Page.

Day 12 : Grand Canyon North Rim
