Day2 : Talatona, international district ©AdemarRangel

Visit of the Agostinho Neto Memorial and the Talatona district. Go (or return) by boat from the commercial port of Luanda, and take the other route along the long Rua da Samba to discover all its shops and "house" signs. Depending on the time dedicated to the visit of Luanda, the season (cacimbo or rainy season), your tastes (beach or no beach), integrate on Day 1 or 2 the visit to the Ilha do Cabo during the day or in the evening, or even better, both.

Day 3 : Ilha de Mussulo

Visit of the Slavery Museum and excursion to the Mussulo peninsula. The visit of this museum can also be planned by going to Kissama National Park, to the beaches of Cabo Ledo or to the south of the country. Remember that it is strongly recommended to leave the city centre at dawn (or before dawn) for day trips or long trips to avoid wasting a lot of time in traffic jams.

Day 4 : Wako Kungo

Departure at the dawn of Luanda to the southeast to reach Wako Kungo by stopping in Catete, Dondo (and Massangano), Cambambe dam, Quibala.

Day 5 : Wako Kungo - Huambo

Recommended stop in the "Alto Hama" and/or a short detour to the city of Bailundo, capital of the kingdom of the same name in the 15th century.

Day 6 : Huambo - Kuito

Afternoon trip after visiting Huambo. Local market along the main road.

Day 7 : Kuito - Menongue

Going through the source of the Kwanza River. Get water, food and fuel in Menongue before continuing east or south.

Day 8 : Menongue - Kuito Kuanavale

Possibility to continue towards Rivungo and Dirico by a very sandy track and very little frequented. Route reserved for experienced and autonomous travellers equipped with high-performance 4x4 vehicles.

Day 9 : Katwitwi

At the border with Namibia, you will see the border crossing that reflects the country: under construction. Possibility to pass through Namibia.

Day 10 : Cuangar - Dirico

This section requires travellers to be experienced and self-sufficient and equipped with high-performance 4 x 4 vehicles.

Day 11 : Namibian border

Return by the same track or passage by Namibia. Possible crossing on foot of Dirico and with its vehicle of Calai.

Day 12 : Choice of itinerary from Caiundo

Two possible routes from Caiundo: (1) Caiundo - Nehone by a sandy track and continue towards Ondjiva or (2) Caiundo - Menongue.

Day 13 : Menongue - Ondjiva

By Jamba, Cuvelai and Mupa (track with some delicate passages). Departure from 5am strongly recommended.

Day 14 : Ondjiva - Lubango

Walk late in the morning after visiting the Memorial of King Mandume.

Day 15 : Lubango

The city, which was called Sa da Bandeira until 1975, was mainly developed by settlers from Madeira Island and is one of the highest cities in the country (1,720 m). It is 1h30 by plane from the capital (compared to almost 15h by bus). Keep a day to reach Lubango and if you have time, start your visit in the city centre.

Day 16 : Lubango and its surroundings

Visit of the city centre and direction Cristo Rei, a 14-metre statue of Christ at an altitude of 2,130 metres. The day continues with the Estrada da Tundavala located northwest of Lubango. This natural site, which culminates at an altitude of 2,600 m, will give you a breathtaking view of Angola and its high plateaus. The rest of your visit will be followed by the Serra da Leba and its landscaped terraces, which will also offer you superb views and breathtaking natural landscapes. To get there, you will have to take 21 bends over 14 kilometres. A photograph worthy of a postcard at the end of the day, a beautiful reward, isn't it?

Day 17 : Désert Desert

For 2 days, even if it takes 5 full days to take maximum advantage. Circuit guided and organized from the town of Namibe with a travelling loop of 4 x 4 equipped with hiking in the middle of the desert, dunes, beaches, and some inescapable sites in south-western Angola.

Day 18 : Namibe - Lucira

Take the road for almost 3 hours. A fishing village, Lucira is the coastal municipality most northerly in the province of Namibe. Visiting Lucira offers you another vision of Angola and some of its problems such as access to drinking water. Surrounded by high cliffs and mountains, Lucira is worth a visit.
