Round trip around Mount Blanc

Trip description

The Mont Blanc Massif is probably the most famous and remarkable massif in France and the Alps, which it owes to its iconic summit bearing the same name from the top of its 4810m of altitude. During your trip between France, Italy and Switzerland, you will be able to see it from almost anywhere, under all its lights. At the top of a pass or in the valley, the most majestic galciers and peaks of the Alps will be yours.

A complete course with the pleasure of a light rucksack, for a great classic of the mountain.

Day 6: D6 - La Forclaz (or Trient) - Argentière or Le Tour (if dormitory option)

Day 7: D7 - Argentière or le Tour - Chamonix

Day 1 : D1 - Arrival at Les Contamines

Settle into your hotel room where you will be welcomed.

Day 2 : D2 - Les Contamines - Les Chapieux

Transfer to Notre dame de la Gorge, then climb to the Col du Bonhomme before going to the Croix du Bonhomme, before going down into the Chapieux valley. This is a resolutely mountainous stage with a remarkable view of the Aiguille des glaciers.

Accommodation at the Auberge de la Nova hut

Day 3 : D3 - Les chapieux - Courmayeur (room option) or to Refuge Elena (dormitory option)

Start the day with an ascent to the Seigne pass, on the border with Italy. The descent offers panoramic views, with the Aiguilles de Peuterey and Mont Blanc de Courmayeur in the distance. You spend the night in Courmayeur in a hotel (night and breakfast in this case) or in a dormitory: there is then a bus transfer to the bottom of the Val Ferret. From there, it takes about 1 hour to reach the Elena hut facing the Pré de Bar glacier. Night at the Elena hut.

Day 4 : D4 - Courmayeur or Refuge Elena - Champex (Val d'Arpette)

Second border crossing (Switzerland) by the Grand Col Ferret, then descent to the splendid village of La Fouly. Breathtaking view of the Combins massif to the east, and the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif.

Transfer by bus to Champex, where there is still 3 to 4 hours of hiking to reach the Val d'Arpette gîte.

Day 5 : D5 - Champex (Val d'Arpette) - La Forclaz (or Trient)

You pass through the Fenêtre d'Arpette, one of the highest crossing points of this Tower, from the top of its 2850m. During the descent to Trient, the spectacle along the glacier is breathtaking. For less experienced hikers (or in case of bad weather), you can pass through the Col de Bovine.

Lodging in a mountain inn at the Col de la Forclaz or in Trient.

Day 6 : D6 - La Forclaz (or Trient) - Argentière or Le Tour (if dormitory option)

You pass over the French territory via the Col de la Balme, with a panorama worth the detour on the Mont Blanc and the Aiguille Verte. The descent is direct to the Tour. Alternative possibility to sleep at the gîte du Moulin or at the gîte de la Boerne.

Lodging in a refuge of the Club Alpin du Tour or in a 3* hotel in Argentière.

Day 7 : D7 - Argentière or le Tour - Chamonix

This last day offers one of the most beautiful mountain balconies not to be missed under any circumstances: The Balcony of the Aiguilles Rouges. In front of you stands the Verte and the Drus, then, by the Flégère path, the Mer de Glace, the Aiguilles de Chamonix, the Mont Blanc du Tacul, the Aiguille du Goûter and the Mont Blanc in front of you, a grandiose spectacle on the program. The descent to "Cham" is via the Praz. Alternatively, you can take the Flégère cable car. Regular shuttles bring you to the centre of Chamonix.
