Southern Mali

Trip description

Mopti, the Dogon country and Timbuktu are obviously the most famous sites in Mali, but the South also has its share of wonders in store for you. Less known, it is nevertheless the greenest part of the country with the region of Sikasso which hosts most of the market gardening and especially cotton, the Bobo region around Koutiala and Yorosso where masks regularly come out during traditional festivals, but also the magnificent lake of Sélingué on the edge of which we still find traces of ancestral wars. The south of the country also has many traditional gold panner sites, the oldest of which is located near the Ivorian border, a few kilometres from Kadiolo. Before leaving, find out about the level of security in the area, as some areas may be a risk
