Argentina is the 8th largest country in the world. To discover better this country with natural treasures spread out from coast to coast it is appropriate to divide your trip in two parts. Here is the best 2-week itinerary featuring the must-see places in northern Argentina but also some hidden gems. You will visit the capital of tango : Buenos Aires, Salta region with striking rock formations and almost lunar landscape, Mendoza wine region and the magnificent Iguazu falls. A few days are planned as a self-drive itinerary to give you more freedom.

Day 1 : Arrival in Buenos Aires

Day 2 : Buenos Aires city tour



4-hour private city tour by car with english speaking guide. Places visited : neighborhood of La Boca with its famous Caminito street, Recoleta and its cemetery, Puerto Madero and Palermo districts.

Day 3 : Aconcagua

Regular tour with bilingual guide spanish/english to the Aconcagua provincial park including a 1-hour walk to a viewpoint over the highest summit of South America. Including several stops along the way and one in Puente de los Incas. Lunch included. Park fees not included.

Day 4 : Visit to family-run bodegas



Semi-private tour of 3 family-run bodegas in Lujan de Cuyo region. The bodega guided tour will be given by the bilingual owners. You will then share a barbecue lunch with one of the bodega owner. 

Wine tasting included in each bodega.

Free morning to visit Mendoza city-center.

Day 6 : Salinas Grandes



Small group tour with bilingual guide spanish/english to the Salinas Grandes, a salt flats located at a height of 3550 m.

On the way you will visit Purmamarca, the Hill of the seven colours, the cuesta del Lipan and Abra del Potrerillo (4150 m).

Day 7 : El hornocal : the 14-coloured mountain



Bus transfer to Humahuaca. Free time to visit the small town with adobe houses. 

You will then go to the hornocal, the 14-coloured mountain with your local driver.

Transfer to a charming mountain inn where you will spend the night, totally disconnected from the worldly noise.

Day 8 : Iruya



Private round trip transfer to Iruya, micro town at the end of an amazing scenic road.

Day 9 : Visit of an altitude wine cellar



Semi-private 4x4 tour by the owners of the mountain inn. Visit of their vineyards and their altitude wine cellar, established in a former mine. There you will enjoy some tapas dish made with local products and a wonderful panoramic view of the gorge.

Transfer back to Salta in bus.

Day 10 : Salta - Cachi



Car rental for 2,5 days included with basic insurance. Possibility to upgrade to a private tour with guide/driver (in extra). 

Explore the road to Cachi at your own pace, several viewpoints on the way over breathtaking landscapes.

Self-drive itinerary. Near Molinos, possibility to take a side trip to visit the beautiful Colomé bodega.

Day 12 : Cafayate - Quebrada de las conchas - Salta - Iguazu



Self-drive itinerary from Cafayate to Salta visiting the Quebrada de las Conchas on the way.

You will return the car at the airport before your flight to Iguazu (flight not included).

Day 13 : Argentine side of Iguazu falls



Private guided tour with private transfer and english speaking guide to the argentinian side of the waterfalls. Including lower and upper circuits and the devil throat. Entry to the national park not included.
