A trek in Andalusia, with visits to Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Ronda, hiking on the Sierra Nevada in the white villages of the Alpujarras, the Sierra de Grazalema and the Sierra de Antequera.

At the crossroads of Africa and Europe, Andalusia reflects the image of authentic Spain. With three days of visits to the must-see sites of Cordoba, Seville, Granada and Ronda, and three days of hiking in the small white villages of the Alpujarras in Sierra Nevada, the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park and the karst formations of the Torcal de Antequera, you enter in one of the most important cultural places in Europe. To the rhythm of Andalusian music, you will taste the Mediterranean flavours and stroll through the historic sites where the Moorish influence is felt down to the smallest corners of this «country» with a strong identity. Flight to Malaga. Pick-up at the airport then transfer to Ronda. According to arrival time, first discovery of the small bullfighting town of Ronda.

Day 2 : Ronda - Sierra de Grazalema - Ronda

Morning departure for the village of Cortes de la Frontera. Superb hike in the Sierra de Grazalema National Park and discovery of the immense altitude meadows of Libar. The limestone rock contrasts nicely with the greenery of the meadows. A typical Mediterranean landscape with some olive and almond trees but especially with carob trees and cork oaks. Beautiful discovery hike, and beautiful sea view from the top. Picnic during the hike. Return to Ronda in the afternoon. Free visit of the city to discover some of the architectural wonders of the village and some monuments. The must-see will remain the 18th century Pont Neuf on the Taje, which is the symbol and soul of the city; the Plaza de Toros known to be the most monumental bullfighting square that exists; the Islamic gates and walls to defend the city; the Arab thermal baths, which are the best preserved of all the Iberian Peninsula; and pretty typical Andalusian streets with their wrought iron jealousies and typical architecture...

Day 3 : Ronda - Sevilla

Transfer to the city of Seville; arrival in the morning then departure by "rando city" in the company of a cultural guide, to discover the history of the city and the architectural particularities at the departure of the Tore del Oro. On the way, we discover the Plaza de Toro, the Basilica of Santa Maria de Sède, the Giralda, the Alcazar, the tobacco factory that served as the backdrop for the opera Carmen de Bizet and finally the Santa Cruz district, the oldest in Seville... where our hotel is located! This establishment is located in the heart of the historic district. Free lunch and rest of the afternoon free to discover, if you wish, by your own, and in the company of your guide or not, the unmissable monuments that are the Alcazar of Seville, masterpiece of architecture Mudejar, the cathedral Santa Maria de Sède, one of the largest cathedrals in the world with its former minaret of the Giralda and its impressive tomb of Christopher Columbus. Audio-guides will allow you to better understand and discover these different monuments (optional and at your expense... we highly recommend them especially for the visit of the Alcazar). According to your wishes, a flamenco show will complete this day…. (optional and at your expense...see the technical sheet in paragraph THE GOOD DEALS).

- Make your own reservation on the website of the reservation centre by taking a timetable from 2 pm (website: https://realalcazarsevilla.sacatuentrada.es/).
- Let us know as soon as you register that you would like us to make your reservation for the visit of the Alcazar: €12.50/pers. + €10 agency/file fees.
For your information, admission is free every Monday at 5 or 6 pm but there are a lot of people. Through us, you will not be on these time slots in order to better enjoy your visit.

 




Day 4 : Cordoba

Morning departure for the city of Cordoba. Guided tour of the city during 2 hours, to discover the small stories of Cordoba and the architectural particularities like the famous Roman Bridge, the walls, towers and gates that allowed the defence of the city with mainly the wall of the Kairouan street, the door of Almodovar and the Tower of the Malmuerta; but also the district of the Juderia and its medieval synagogue in the Omeyyade style; end of the visit to the heart of the Mezquita, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, the most important monument of the whole Islamic West and of the purest omeyyade style... grandiose! Free lunch and rest of the afternoon free to discover, each at his own pace, the unmissable of Cordoba that are the Alcazar of the Catholic Kings, the old fortress-palace initiated by the Caliphate of Cordoba and restored by the following kings, and the Caballerizas Reales, the monument building dedicated to the preservation of the pure Spanish breed of the Andalusian horse. Built in 1570 by order of King Felippe II, this stud classified today National Heritage made little by little known Cordoba all over the world. Even today, it is known worldwide at the equestrian level for its perfect and continuous preservation of the horse race of the Andalusian Horse. But a simple walk in the old town will complete this visit because there are many streets and squares that offer walkers to discover magnificent architectural complexes. Your hotel is located in the historic district of Cordoba.

Day 5 : Sierra de Antequera National Park - Granada

Morning departure for the Natural Park of the Sierra de Antequera. This park is known for the capricious forms created by erosion. It shaped the limestone rock into a spectacular karst landscape. Recognized "Protected Natural Area" since 1929, it became a Natural Park in 1978 and in 2013, it was elected 2nd finalist in the ranking of the most beautiful Spanish landscapes of the guide Repsol (Spanish tourist guide). Your hike to the Torcal de Antequera will allow you to travel through the labyrinth of this amazing massif, between limestone blocks and clean lawns, between herds of summer pastures and shepherds' shelters, and discover some magnificent views of the sea and the surrounding valleys... Picnic during the hike, then we will continue the road to Granada. Welcome and installation at the hotel.

Day 6 : Granada

Day dedicated to the discovery of the city. A guided tour of the Alhambra, THE unmissable masterpiece of all Andalusia is scheduled at a specific time. You will be informed by your guide of the place and the appointment schedule for this visit. The entrance ticket and the guided tour will give you access to the areas of the Alcazaba, the Nazaris Palace, the Generalife, the Mosque Bath and the gardens. It takes a minimum of 3 hours to visit the Alhambra but you can largely expect 4 hours. Next, we recommend a little tour in the Albaicin district; listed as a World Heritage Site, it is the former Muslim district of Granada. Narrow streets, exhilarating gardens, jealousies and carmenes, ancient walls and thermal baths will make this walk a charming and romantic moment especially in the evening at dusk. Then you will have to make a short tour in the gypsy district of Sacromonte whose particularity comes from its troglodyte houses. You will also discover many rooms and flamenco schools that began in this area. But there are also many monuments to visit in Granada. The must-see is the Nuestra Senora de Las Angustias Basilica, patron of the city, built in the 8th century with an altarpiece in the Baroque style; and the cathedral of the city, built in the 16th and 17th century in the Spanish Renaissance style. For historical monuments there is the Corral del Carbon, a sort of ancient Arab caravanserai intended for the wheat trade and dating from the early 14th century; it is not to be visited, but one can admire its entrance door and its interior courtyard which well picture the architecture of the caravanserai; the Palace of the Madraza, former Koranic school today integrated in the University of Granada; the Arab baths of Granada, which were built in the 11th century and are in perfect condition... your hotel is located in the historic district of Granada, close to the Alhambra.

Day 7 : White villages of the Alpujarras - Malaga

Morning transfer to the Alpujarras region and its white villages. After a stop at the information centre of the Sierra Nevada National Park, departure for a nice hike on the southern slope of this Sierra. Starting from the small white village of Pampaneira, the trail goes up between the agricultural terraces, crosses the white village of Bubion, and winds between some chestnut groves before reaching the village of Capileira, the pearl of the white villages of the Alpujarras. Beautiful day of discovery of the life of the past in this mountain of the bottom of Europe... picnic during the hike. Depending on the shape of the group, loopback possible. Continue to the village of Trevelez, the highest village in Spain, renowned for the superior quality of its dried hams; visit a ham dryer. Then departure for Malaga. Dinner on the way then arrival and installation at the hotel.

Day 8 : Malaga - France



Depending on your flight schedule, free tour of the city of Malaga or morning transfer to the airport. Return flight to France.
