A long weekend in Montenegro allows you to see several of the country's landmark sites in the vicinity of the capital Podgorica. Because this magnificent country, which has the same surface area as a French region, has five national parks, a rugged coastline and mountains, entire parts of which are unspoilt by any urbanization.
Day 1: Arrival in Podgorica, direction Lake Skadar
Day 2: Cetinje and the monastery of Ostrog
Day 3: The monastery of Ostrog
Once in Podgorica, a capital of little interest, you quickly take the road to Lake Skadar, less than an hour's drive from the capital. Containing hills and islets, it extends as far as the eye can see, over nearly 40,000 hectares. This last habitat of European pelicans offers landscapes of breathtaking beauty.
Cetinje, the former royal capital of Montenegro, is home to the country's national art and history museums. A good idea, before pushing to the mouths of Kotor, the image of Épinal of the country, where you can have a look
Finally, the famous Orthodox monastery of Ostrog, also an hour from the capital, can be the subject of a beautiful day trip. Built in the middle of the 17th century, on the wall of a steep cliff, it is the most venerated holy place in the country. Enough to make you want to come back to discover the country in depth...
