Trip description

It takes a minimum of three weeks to get into the wonders of Colombia. A typical, unforgettable journey takes you from Bogotá to Santander, via Villa de Leyva, then the colonial towns of Mompos, Cartagena and Santa Pa in Antioquia, the coffee region, and even the south of Popayán and San Agustín, if you manage your flights well and your schedule.

Bogotá, Gold Museum, emerald market, climb to Monserrate for a beautiful view of the capital, dinner in the Zona Rosa or in Usaquén. If you resist time lag, a nocturnal chiva tower or salsa bar.

Continue exploring Bogotá.




Day 4 : Excursion to a salt mine

Direction Villa de Leyva, colonial town at 4 hours of bus; walk in the city.

San Gil by bus, swimming in waterfalls. Night in San Gil or Barichara, for more charm.




Day 9 : Sports and Patronage

Sports day around San Gil. Mountain biking, rafting, paragliding or horse riding, visit El Gallineral park. From Barichara, take the trail to the peaceful village of Guane (2 hours).

Direction Bucaramanga by bus (Chicamocha canyon on the road), visit the "city of the parks". For amateurs, preparations for a paragliding jump the next morning.

In the morning, visit Girón (or paragliding), the afternoon direction Cartagena by plane.

A collective taxi for Santa Marta (4 hours), visit this historic city or relax in Taganga.




Day 16 : Tayrona National Park

Excursion to Tayrona Park. Beach and walks on the trails of the forest. Night in hammock or bungalow.




Day 17 : On La Guajira Peninsula

Day 18 : Culture Wayúu

Trip to the Cabo de la Vela, swimming, discovery of the culture Wayúu in a ranchería, night in a chinchorro (traditional hammock).
