2021 is a new year, a new year that means new projects; all the fans of great journeys and passionate adventurers are already licking their lips at the idea of planning their annual trip. However, they all ask themselves the same question: How to imagine traveling with the current context overflowing with uncertainties and unavoidable formalities due to Covid 19? Knowing that a good part of the year 2021 will still be impacted by the pandemic. What will the world of tourism look like this year? Will it be necessary to give up on trips abroad? What reflexes should be adopted before any reservations to be prepared for any eventuality? Quota trip has looked into new forms of tourism.
The choice of local travel was a success for the summer of 2020 in France; indeed, given the uncertainties and the spread of the pandemic, nearly 95% of trips planned last summer by the French were within the country. However, an international trip remains an extraordinary, tireless experience. And as soon as the announcement of the second deconfinement was made, distant reservations multiplied, all while implementing health formalities. Dubai, Maldives, Mexico, Dominican Republic, received their share of French travelers. Of course, all while following restrictions (quarantine, negative PCR test required, etc.)
Going abroad these days means having to respect and carry out new formalities. Firstly, the famous negative PCR test (performed 48h to 72h before the flight), then a quarantine may be required upon entry to some countries, rarer but possible, tracking application during your stay or soon a potential proof of vaccination will be some of the new mandatory steps for globe-trotters eager for tourist discoveries.
Technology, omnipresent, has also found its place within travel. Indeed, tools are provided to facilitate and accompany in the particular health context surrounding us. Everything will be done online: from tracking as a prevention against contamination to the application showing PCR test results through habits we have already adopted (contactless payment, online check-in and tickets...) the digital world is destined to thrive within travel.
Staying locked up at home has become complicated; that's why travelers are gradually giving life back to ecotourism (focused on discovery and respect for nature and locals). This new way of traveling is set to expand more and more in the future. So, fine sandy beach or pool? Crowded shopping mall or discovery of tropical forests? I think for most of us the choice is quickly made!
