Two Travel Enthusiasts Share Their Travel Stories

We met two wonderful people who recently ventured into the world of travel blogging. We appreciated their way of sharing their escapades across the world and throughout France. Stories of adventures that inspire the desire to travel, thanks to beautiful images and well-chosen words. We asked them to tell us a bit more about themselves and their way of traveling.

Can you introduce yourselves briefly?

We are Charlotte and Marie-Catherine, a couple in love and passionate about life and travel. A Ch’ti and a Bretonne who have been living in Boulogne-Billancourt for 8 years, counting down the days until the next departure. If it is a virus, we caught it in 2013 during our first getaway together to London. Since then, we haven’t stopped and we love it. Each time, we realize a new dream. We are curious travelers; we love the unusual and culinary experiences.

How do you choose your destinations?

By feeling! We have dozens of desires every second, which isn’t always easy to prioritize…

How do you prepare your trips?

By surfing on the blogs of our fellow bloggers, an inexhaustible source of inspiration and good tips. We are also fans of paper guides and TV reports, like Echappées Belles. On the contrary, we use social networks little to prepare our stays…

Since when did you start Récits d’Escapades? (and how do you divide the work?)

It has been on our minds for several years, especially thanks to family and friends who were waiting for us to share the (often oral) story of our trips. We also surfed a lot on travel blogs then. It was in June 2017, one lunchtime, sitting on a café terrace in the mountains facing Lake Como, that we said we needed to launch it! From this shared passion was born our travel blog “Récits d’escapades.” It’s our way of continuing the journey once home and sharing the stories and tips from our destinations. The blog is a lot of work, especially when we have very demanding jobs during the week where we invest ourselves 200%. Charlotte handles the photo and video part, site management, and is an Instagram stories pro 😊 Marie-Catherine (me), I am in charge of writing articles and handling partnerships! The blog is our double life in the evenings and weekends but it’s always great moments of happiness (except when there are 3000 photos to sort... :S)

What are your best travel memories so far? (I know, it’s a difficult question!!)

The polar bear. It was THE dream of a lifetime. Watching it in its natural habitat on the Svalbard archipelago in Norway, one morning on August 17, 2018… A suspended moment, rare and precious.

Monument Valley in the American West felt like stepping onto the other side of the screen chasing cowboys and Indians.

What is your bucket list?

– Admire the Taj Mahal in India
– Listen to Jazz in New Orleans
– Find the Big Five in Africa
– Walk along the Great Wall of China
– Be amazed and lose oneself speaking at Iguazu Falls in Argentina

… And if only that was all… It’s definitely on our list.
