The 7 Days Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful and least crowded ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the remote western side of the mountain, this route offers breathtaking scenery, excellent acclimatization, and a high summit success rate. It is ideal for trekkers who want a rewarding and well-paced climb to Uhuru Peak.
día 1
Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)
After a drive from Moshi or Arusha, you reach Londorossi Gate for registration and a briefing. From here, you continue to the trailhead and begin your hike through dense rainforest filled with birdlife and monkeys. The walk is calm and steady, ending at Mti Mkubwa Camp after 3–4 hours of trekking. You’ll rest and enjoy dinner, surrounded by forest sounds.
día 2
Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)
The trail climbs out of the rainforest into the moorland zone, revealing scenic views of rolling hills and volcanic formations. You pass through Shira 1 Camp before crossing the vast Shira Plateau. The landscape becomes more open, and you start to feel the high altitude. After about 7–8 hours of hiking, you reach Shira 2 Camp with views of Kibo Peak.

Shira 2 to Barranco Camp (3,976m) via Lava Tower (4,640m)
Today’s route takes you higher to help with acclimatization. You ascend gradually to Lava Tower, where you stop for lunch at 4,640m. From there, you descend to Barranco Camp. This “hike high, sleep low” strategy improves your chances of summit success. The route offers dramatic scenery, and the camp is set beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.
día 4
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,995m)
The day begins with a steep climb up the famous Barranco Wall, which looks intimidating but is very doable with steady steps. After the wall, the trail undulates through alpine valleys before arriving at Karanga Camp. This day is shorter and perfect for acclimatization, giving you time to rest and enjoy the mountain atmosphere.
día 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m)
After breakfast, you ascend steadily through rocky terrain to reach Barafu Camp, the final base before summit night. The route is dry and exposed, but the views are wide and dramatic. You’ll arrive in time for an early dinner and briefing. The rest of the day is for resting and preparing for the midnight summit push.
día 6
Barafu to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Descend to Mweka Camp (3,068m)
Just before midnight, you begin your final climb under the stars. The trail is steep and cold, but with slow steps and determination, you reach Stella Point and then Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After photos and celebration, you descend to Barafu for a short break, then continue down to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.
día 7
