The Konavle region has an ancient history. Its name comes from Canalis, the canals built by the Romans to supply their camp Epidaurus, today the magnificent village of Cavtat. Konavle is a unique microclimate on the Croatian Adriatic coast, between the sea and the Sniježnica massif peaking at 1234 m, renowned for its cypress forests embracing its authentic stone villages.

The Konavle region is known for silk production and embroidery. A tradition still alive, as women pass down family patterns from mother to daughter. All the pride of the woman and her know-how are illustrated by the embroidery of her traditional costume.

The AR workshop produces silk as it was done in the past. They use their own cocoons for presentations and traditional silk thread production workshops. It also has a rich collection of embroideries that are part of traditional costumes and other domestic uses.
