2021 is a new year, a year that means new projects. All the fans of great journeys and adventure enthusiasts are already licking their lips at the idea of planning their annual trip. However, they all ask themselves the same question: how can one imagine traveling with the current context overflowing with uncertainties and unavoidable formalities due to Covid-19? Knowing that a good part of the year 2021 will still be impacted by the pandemic, what will the world of tourism look like this year? Will we have to give up trips abroad? What reflexes should be adopted before any booking in order to be prepared for any eventuality? Quota trip has looked into the new forms of tourism.
The choice of local travel was a success for summer 2020 in France. Indeed, given the uncertainties and the spread of the pandemic, nearly 95% of trips planned last summer by the French took place within France. However, an international trip remains an extraordinary, tireless experience. As soon as the second lockdown was lifted, long-distance bookings multiplied, while implementing health formalities. Dubai, Maldives, Mexico, Dominican Republic received their share of French travelers, of course while following the restrictions (quarantine, negative PCR test required, etc.).
Traveling abroad lately means having to respect and complete the new formalities. First, the famous negative PCR test (done 48h to 72h before the flight). Then, a quarantine may be required upon entry into certain countries. Rarer but possible, the use of a tracking app during your stay or soon a possible proof of vaccination will be among the new mandatory steps for globe-trotters eager for tourist discoveries.
Technology, omnipresent, has also managed to take its place within travel. Indeed, tools are available to facilitate and assist in the particular health context that surrounds us. Everything will be done online: from tracking as a preventive measure for contamination to the app showing PCR test results, including habits we have already adopted (contactless payment, online check-in and tickets, etc.). The digital world is destined to thrive within travel.
Staying locked up at home has become complicated. That is why travelers are gradually reviving ecotourism (focused on discovering and respecting nature and local life). This new way of traveling is set to expand more and more in the future. So, fine sandy beach or swimming pool? Crowded shopping mall or discovery of tropical forests? I think for most of us, the choice is quickly made!
