Two travel enthusiasts share their getaway stories

We met two wonderful people who recently started out in the world of travel blogging. We enjoyed the way they shared their escapades around the world and across France with us. Their stories of escapades make you want to travel, thanks to beautiful images and well-chosen words. So we asked them to tell us a little more about themselves and their way of traveling.

Can you introduce yourselves in a few words?

We are Charlotte and Marie-Catherine, a couple in love and passionate about life and travel. A Ch’ti and a Breton who have been living in Boulogne-Billancourt for 8 years, counting the days until the next departure. Because if it’s a virus, we caught it in 2013, during our first trip together to London. Since then, we haven’t stopped and we love it. Every time, we make a new dream come true. We are curious travelers, we love the unusual and culinary experiences.

How do you choose your destinations

By feeling! We have dozens of desires every second, not always easy to prioritize...

How do you prepare your trips

By surfing the blogs of our fellow bloggers, an inexhaustible source of inspiration and good tips. We are also fans of paper guides and TV documentaries, like Échappées Belles. On the other hand, we rarely use social networks to prepare our trips…

Since when have you launched Récits d’Escapades? (and how do you split the work)

It had been on our minds for several years, especially thanks to family and friends who were waiting for us to share the (often oral) stories of our trips. We were also surfing a lot on travel blogs. It was in June 2017, one lunchtime, sitting on a café terrace in the mountains facing Lake Como, that we said to ourselves the saying was magical and we had to go for it! From this shared passion, our travel blog “Récits d’escapades” was born. This is our way of continuing the journey once we’re back and sharing the stories and good tips from our destinations. The blog is a lot of work, especially when you have a very demanding job during the week in which you invest 200%. Charlotte handles the photo and video part, site management, and is a pro at Instagram stories 🙂. Marie-Catherine (me), I’m in charge of writing the articles and managing partnerships! The blog is our double life in the evenings and weekends, but it’s always great moments of happiness (except when there are 3000 photos to sort… :S)

What are your best travel memories so far? (I know, it’s a tough question!!)

The polar bear. It was THE dream of a lifetime. Watching it in its natural environment on the Svalbard archipelago in Norway, one morning on August 17, 2018… A suspended moment, rare and precious.

Monument Valley in the American West, and the feeling of having crossed to the other side of the screen, chasing cowboys and Indians.

What is your bucket list?

– Admire the Taj Mahal in India – Listen to jazz in New Orleans – Find the Big Five in Africa – Walk the Great Wall of China – Be amazed and unable to hear ourselves talk at the Iguazu Falls in Argentina

…. And if only that was all… That’s on our list anyway.
