Arrival in KigaliWelcome to Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. Our guide/representative will be at the airport to welcome you. Depending on the time of arrival, you will take a short city tour to visit sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Kandt Museum.
day 2
Transfer to Akagera National Park.This morning, after breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up at the hotel to transfer you to Akagera National Park. You will make stops to stretch and photograph the beautiful landscape. Upon arrival at the park, lunch, safari, then retreat for the night.
day 3
Explore the Akagera National Park.After breakfast, start the safari in search of elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and lions. The safari will take you to the northern part of the park, where most of the animals prefer to live. Look for zebras, giraffes, and impalas, which are usually scattered along the tracks. Return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will go on a boat safari on Lake Ihema to enjoy the afternoon breeze and observe the wildlife.
day 4
Transfer to the Nyungwe forest, the home of the chimpanzees.This morning, we leave Akagera National Park for Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali. We will stop in Huye for lunch and visit the national museum to learn more about the history and traditions of the Rwandan people. We arrive in Nyungwe Forest later in the evening. Travel time: 7 hours
day 5
Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in the Nyungwe forest.After an early breakfast, we set out in search of chimpanzees in the Nyungwe forest. The forest is rich in botanical diversity and is home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees, L'Hoest monkeys, and Colobus monkeys, as well as 300 species of birds. Your tour guide will transfer you to the briefing area where you will meet your ranger guide and receive a briefing before starting your trek. Return to the lodge after the chimpanzee trek, or you can choose to do the canopy walk immediately so you can rest afterwards. The canopy walk allows you to admire the forest from above while enjoying nature.
day 6
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park - Gorilla Guardians Village.After breakfast, we leave for the Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy the different views and winding roads in the land of a thousand hills. You will have the opportunity to make various stops for photos and stretching according to your needs. In the afternoon, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village to learn more about the culture of the Rwandan people and how it was built. You will also discover how they have coexisted with mountain gorillas for generations. Travel time: 5 hours
day 7
Gorilla trekkingMeet the mountain gorillas in the dense jungles of the Virunga range. The trek to the gorillas begins with a briefing at the park headquarters in Kinigi, where you are assigned a ranger and a gorilla family to explore. After the briefing, your guide will take you to the starting point of the hike. You may have to drive to the trekking starting point depending on the location of the gorilla group you will be tracking. Trekking through the habitat of these enormous animals is a rewarding and unforgettable experience that many people seek. The trek can last from a few minutes to several hours, depending on where the gorillas nested the previous night.

Transfer to Kigali - DepartureToday is your last day of this safari in Rwanda with Kagera Safaris. Start your day with breakfast, then transfer to the airport. Travel time: 2.5 hours
