day 1
Arusha or Lake ManyaraThis morning, by car to Lake Manyara National Park. Facing the steep escarpment of the Rift Valley, you will find Lake Manyara National Park, with its underground evergreen forest and its diverse ecosystems, including acacia woodlands, grassy plains, a marshy delta, and, of course, the vast lake. This diversity attracts a wide variety of mammal, bird, and wildlife species. Manyara is also home to rare tree-climbing lions. The park offers excellent game viewing, with buffaloes, impalas, giraffes, bushbucks, gazelles, hippos, and many elephants roaming near the lake. Also watch out for blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, and the very active troops of olive baboons. Overnight at the Octagon Lodge or similar (with lunch, dinner, and breakfast).
day 2
From Lake Manyara to Serengeti National ParkAfter breakfast, head to Serengeti National Park, where the word "Serengeti" is derived from the Maasai language, meaning "endless plain". On the way to the Serengeti, you can choose to visit a Maasai village, an ideal place to explore Maasai culture and even participate in some tribal activities. You can also visit Olduvai Gorge, known as the Cradle of Humankind; the museum is a testament to the long journey humanity has made, from its humble roots in East Africa to its current state as the dominant species on earth. Enjoy a safari en route to your camp. Overnight at Zawadi Serengeti Camp or similar (with lunch, dinner, and breakfast).
day 3

The huge herds of plains game, such as wildebeest, zebra, and antelope, dominate the park, while predators like lions and cheetahs can be found among the many kopjes scattered across the plain. Its landscape varies from grassy plains in the south, savannas with scattered acacias in the center, rolling wooded grasslands in the north, to vast wooded and black clay plains in the west. Overnight at Zawadi Serengeti Camp or similar (with lunch, dinner, and breakfast).
day 4

The crater is 600 m deep, 16 km wide, and covers an area of 265 km². Enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing in what has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. Several of Tanzania's last black rhinos graze on the open grasslands at the bottom of the crater, surrounded by some of the 20,000 large animals that inhabit the crater, including lion, cheetah, eland, zebra, and gazelle. Flamingos, among other bird species, can often be seen feeding at Lake Makat Soda as well. In the afternoon, drive to your lodge for the night. Overnight at Octagon Lodge or similar (with lunch, dinner, and breakfast).
