Chinguetti and the Erg Warane, immersion in the sands

Our camel trek in Mauritania takes place in the majestic and intricate dunes of the Erg Warane. Gradually, as we walk through the sands, we discover the first palm groves before reaching the old city of Chinguetti. Nestled in its setting of blond sand, this historic city was, for centuries, a gathering place for caravans of pilgrims heading east, towards the holy sites. The erudition of its scholars has given Chinguetti a respected aura throughout West Africa. South of the city, the Erg Warane continues its route westward. With our caravan, we plunge into the heart of the dunes to discover their secret and omnipresent life. Towards sunset, the small mountain massif of Zarga rises before us, blocking our path. Its eroded sandstones offer us magnificent walks. A unique story gave birth to this long, narrow mountain, a story that will make our evenings under the starry sky even more fascinating.
