• day 1

  Arrival in Saint Petersburg

  Arrival in Saint Petersburg. Transfer from the airport to the city center. Check-in at your accommodation.

• day 2

  First discovery of the capital of the North

  • Guided city tour in French. The tour includes: Nevsky Prospect, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, Palace Square (the Hermitage), Smolny Convent, the University district, and the Admiralty.

• day 3

  Hermitage Museum

  Guided tour in French of the Hermitage Museum, one of the largest museums in the world, spread across five different buildings. Tens of thousands of pieces are exhibited there in about 1,000 rooms.

• day 4

  Pushkin, or Tsarskoye Selo

  The visit includes a walk in the gardens and a tour of the Catherine Palace, a splendid 18th-century baroque-style castle. It is particularly known for its ballroom and the very famous Amber Room. The 300-hectare gardens are just as beautiful, divided between the French and English styles, and populated with many small pavilions. Transfer to the station. Departure by night train to Moscow in a 4-berth compartment.

• day 5

  In the heart of Moscow

  Arrival in Moscow. Transfer from the station to the city and guided city tour in French with a visit to the Kremlin. You will visit inside: the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, the Cathedral of the Annunciation, the Cathedral of the Dormition, as well as the Church of the Deposition of the Virgin's Robe. You will visit from the outside: Saint Basil's Cathedral, Red Square and the GUM shopping galleries, Manege Square, Alexander Garden, the Bolshoi Theatre and the Metropol Hotel, as well as the monument to Minin and Pozharsky (by Ivan Matros). Then, guided tour in French of the Novodevichy Convent (of the young girls). Transfer and check-in at your accommodation.

• day 6

  Soviet Moscow

  Guided tour in French of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (outside), the monument to Alexander II, the monument to Peter I, and the Zachatievsky Monastery. Walk accompanied by your guide along the old Arbat, passing in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, a typical monument of Stalinist architecture. Then, guided tour in French of the Tretyakov Gallery.

• day 7

  Departure

  Transfer to the airport and return.
