Direction DambullaAfter a good early breakfast, you will head towards Dambulla. On the way, you will make a stop at Pinnawala to visit the Millennium Elephant Foundation. This non-governmental organization (NGO), run by families, aims to improve the well-being of domesticated elephants in Sri Lanka. The foundation provides and funds care, medical treatments, food, mahout salaries, the association's operating costs, as well as a mobile veterinary unit on call that travels throughout the country to treat sick elephants in need. The Elephant Walk Experience is an alternative to elephant-back riding for tourists. It is an ethical, intimate, and personal experience. Next, you will continue to Dambulla where you will have the chance to discover the ruins of the historic Dambulla cave temples, dating back to the 1st century BC. See for yourself the ancient murals depicting the life story of Lord Gautama Buddha, as well as the hundreds of Buddha figurines and other deities scattered throughout the five main caves. You will continue with a visit to the Golden Cave Temple, the Divine King’s Cave, the Great King’s Cave, and the Great New Monastery. There you will see, among other things, the giant golden Buddha statue, located a short distance outside the cave complex, while listening to the legendary tales of this ancient kingdom.

On the way to SigiriyaThis morning, you will visit one of the most historic sites in Sri Lanka, namely the famous Lion Rock Fortress in Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This rock fortress dates back to the 5th century AD and was once ruled by the Sri Lankan king Kashyapa. You will pass through the entrance framed by the paws of a lion, which gives it its name, "The Lion Rock." Admire the magnificent murals that have made Sigiriya famous and climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and the cisterns that still function. A breathtaking example of ancient Sri Lankan hydraulic engineering. Next, you will head to a local village in Sigiriya to experience authentic Sri Lankan village life. You will have the opportunity to take a bullock cart ride and discover the world from the perspective of a village farmer. Don't miss the chance to enjoy a relaxing catamaran safari across a calm lake. You can walk through the golden fields ripe with their paddy harvest. We also invite you to attend a pleasant traditional cooking demonstration that will teach you the basics of Sri Lankan cuisine. Treat your taste buds to a homemade lunch, prepared over a wood fire and served on fragrant lotus leaves, placed on woven trays. Afterwards, you will head to Minneriya where a three-hour safari in Minneriya National Park awaits you. Take the opportunity to admire the sight of more than 150 elephants gathering in one place during the famous gathering of the great elephants, which takes place during the dry season between May and October. In addition to elephants, you will have the chance to see many species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians in the bushes, forests, and other areas of the park.

Discovery of KandyOn this new day, you will set out to discover the Kandy region, which was long under colonial rule. Before that, you will make a stop in Matale for a guided tour of a spice garden. The Matale Spice tour offers you a hands-on experience of a spice and aromatic plant garden in the spice capital of Sri Lanka, Matale. Here you will discover the famous Sri Lankan spices such as coriander, chili, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and their uses. The garden is enriched with aromatic herbs, spice groves, and plants under the fragrant shade of tropical trees, which enhance the unique aroma of each spice and herb. In addition to gaining knowledge about Sri Lankan spices, this unique visit will also allow you to learn more about Ayurvedic medicine. The tropical climate in which the plants and herbs are grown helps them preserve their ancient originality. You will arrive in Kandy in the late afternoon, where you can rest before starting a technical visit related to arts and crafts, such as gemstone crafts, wood carving, and batiks. You can also attend a Kandyan cultural show with its colorful traditional dances and exquisite music. The Kandy cultural show gives you the opportunity to discover some of Sri Lanka's traditions. Visit to the Temple of the ToothToday, you will begin the visit of the Temple of the Tooth, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and built in the 16th century as a place of veneration and protection for the sacred tooth of Lord Buddha. You can stroll peacefully through the beautifully embellished corridors painted in red, cream, and black. In the lounge, against delicately carved pillars, you can be surprised by the beautiful golden statues. An unforgettable experience of history and art to be fully enjoyed. At the end, don't miss a romantic walk around Kandy Lake and explore the city of Kandy before returning to the hotel to relax.
