  Flight to Marrakech

  

• day 2

  Marrakech – Essaouira

  

  After breakfast, departure for Essaouira. Formerly called Mogador, the history of Essaouira, located on the Atlantic coast, dates back to the 7th century BC. It is famous for the filming of Orson Welles' Othello in 1949. You will have a guided tour of the Skala of the port and the city, the old medina and its souks, the consulate district, as well as the Mellah (Jewish quarter). Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

  Essaouira – Safi – El Jadida – Casablanca

  

  Breakfast, departure towards El Jadida via Safi, a small fishing town known for its potters' hill. Lunch and continuation through small localities such as Oualidia (the oyster paradise) and Sidi Bouzid (a top seaside resort). Continue to Casablanca via El Jadida "the new". The Portuguese city of Mazagan is an exceptional example of the exchange of influences between European cultures and Moroccan culture. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  Casablanca – Rabat – Larache

  

  After breakfast, visit of the metropolis and discovery of the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque (jewel of Moroccan architectural heritage). Continue to Rabat, lunch and visit of the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and the Royal Palace, with a photo stop in front of the Chellah Necropolis. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  Larache – Asilah – Tangier

  

  Departure for Tangier. Located on the Strait of Gibraltar, the city offers a fascinating blend of Africa, Europe, and the Orient. Tangier has inspired many internationally renowned artists (painters, musicians, and writers). The new port "Tanger-Med" is one of the largest in the Mediterranean. During the visit, you will discover the "Grand Socco," a lively square with original architecture, the Kasbah district overlooking the port, and the "Petit Socco" located in the center of the Medina.   Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

  

  Departure from Tangier heading north, towards the Rif mountains. Arrival in Tetouan after about an hour's drive. The city of Tetouan has one of the most authentic medinas in Morocco. The bright houses, richly decorated with wrought iron grilles, offer a good example of its medieval Andalusian-Moorish architecture. After the visit, continue to Chefchaouen, the center of the western Rif, which also has a medina. The city was conquered in 1920 by the Spanish, then became a holy city forbidden to non-Muslims.   Chefchaouen – Meknès – Volubilis – Fès

  

  Departure to Volubilis, the most important Roman ruins in Morocco. After visiting the site, you will continue to the small holy village of Moulay Idriss. Here lies Moulay Idris I, founder of the first Moroccan dynasty and the first Moroccan state. Departure for Meknès. Gigantic walls surround the city, marked by the reign of the powerful sultan Moulay Ismail. Visit the most monumental gates in Morocco, including Bab El Mansour, the tomb of Moulay Ismail, the stables and grain mills, as well as the souk. Departure to Fès.   Fes tour

  

  Day dedicated to visiting Fez: medina and souks. Discovery of the Attarine Medersa, the largest and certainly one of the most beautiful, as well as the Nejjarine square with its magnificent fountain decorated with mosaics, wood, and carved plaster. Lunch in the medina, then visit to the surprising leather and carpet workshops. In the afternoon, stop at the Royal Palace esplanade to take photos of its sumptuous golden gate. You will then set off to discover the Merinid Tombs, of which only a few remains are left, and from where there is a breathtaking view of the city and its oldest ramparts. The day ends with a visit to the surprising pottery workshops. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

  Fes – Ifrane – Beni-Mellal – Marrakech

  

  Departure for Marrakech, via a magnificent and very diverse route. You will first cross the Middle Atlas region, passing through Immouzzer du Kandar, Lake Ait Aoua, a wonderful place to rest, then Ifrane, a charming ski resort in the heart of a magnificent cedar forest where streams abound. You will make a relaxing stop in the picturesque setting of Béni Mellal before continuing to Marrakech. Gradually, as you approach Marrakech, you will see the red earth blending with the blue of the sky and the green of the palm trees.
