day 1
Departure from Nairobi to Ol Pejeta ConservancyAfter an early breakfast and departure from the hotel, you will be picked up at 7 a.m. and head to northern Kenya with a stopover in Nanyuki, the Equator town. You will then continue to the camp for check-in, followed by lunch. At 3:30 p.m., you will visit the chimpanzee sanctuary, then go on a short game drive. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 360 km2 reserve dedicated to the conservation of rhinos and other wildlife, as well as cattle ranching. This is where the last two northern white rhinos live. It is also the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. You will then return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
day 2
From Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru National ParkEarly wake-up for breakfast, departure for Lake Nakuru National Park. Note that Mount Kenya, the highest peak in the country and the second highest in Africa, is covered with snow and rises in the distance. Also look at the Aberdares ranges, which are a source of water in the large central region of the country. We will arrive at the lodge with enough time to settle in before lunch and to relax a bit before heading out for a safari in the park in the afternoon. Nakuru National Park offers you a rare glimpse of Kenya's most diverse flora and fauna, and it is famous for its huge flocks of flamingos. More than 450 species of birds have been recorded. Lions, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, pythons, and white rhinos are just some of the animals you may see. The park also protects the largest forest of candelabra euphorbias in Africa. In the evening, you will return to Lion Hill Lodge to spend the night.
day 3
From Lake Nakuru National Park to the Masai Mara National Reserve. After breakfast, departure for the Masai Mara National Reserve via Narok, the largest Maasai town. Head to the reserve and check in at Sentrim Mara Lodge for lunch. At 4 p.m., you will embark on an afternoon safari. Home of the Big Cat Diary and Disney's African Cats, the Masai Mara tops most people's wish lists for a safari in Kenya. The site of the "Great Migration" – one of the natural wonders of the world – is a gloriously beautiful savannah landscape rich in wildlife, which the eminent biologist Julian Huxley described as "the only remaining part of the world's prehuman community, easily accessible and easy to study, at its richest tropical peak." It is also a region where the traditionally dressed Maasai continue to raise their cattle and goats in a way of life that, in some respects, has not changed much since they arrived here 350 years ago. You will then return to the lodge before dusk for dinner and overnight.
day 4
Masai Mara National Reserve, vehicle safarisGet up early today for breakfast. Prepare yourself for a full day of safari and picnic along the Mara River. The park is also known for its excellent predator sightings in their natural habitats, thanks to its relatively large populations of lions, cheetahs, and leopards. We will also see many elephants, Masai giraffes, common zebras, impalas, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, topis, hartebeests, black-backed jackals, spotted hyenas, and many more. You also have the opportunity to visit a Masai cultural village. The Maasai are proud herders and warriors. Spend time in the "Manyatta" and immerse yourself in one of the oldest cultures on earth. The women and children will entertain you with traditional songs and, while you are in the village, you will see how they lead their daily lives in a very traditional way, such as making fire with stones and sticks. You will then return to the camp before dusk for dinner and the night.
day 5
Masai Mara National Reserve, return to Nairobi. You will have your breakfast at your convenience, then you will leave the camp. Your return journey to Nairobi will include a last-minute shopping stop in Narok, then you will head to Nairobi. You will arrive in time for lunch at the Carnivore restaurant, then, after the meal, you will be transferred to your preferred destination.
