Dive into the land and culture of the Ifugao. Trek in Banaue and visit four different Ifugao villages. Hike through spectacular rice terraces, mountains, and waterfalls. Ifugao is the name of the region and its people, famous for the Banaue rice terraces, which stand out among other terraced rice fields in the world for their scale and beauty. But, little known fact, the grandeur of the Ifugao province extends far beyond Banaue. This adventure takes us to the heart of the Ifugao region, to places that most tourists never see. We walk through beautiful landscapes of mountains, terraced rice fields, and forests, and stop in indigenous communities along the way. We interact with the fascinating Ifugaos and learn to appreciate their culture by making a different village our home each night.

Stay program

  • day 1

    Trip to Banaue

    The group meets in Manila in the evening and we sleep while we travel along winding mountain roads. When we wake up, we will be in Banaue, where the famous rice terraces are located, often called the eighth wonder of the world.

  • day 2

    Pula

    Our hike through the Ifugao mountains begins at the Awan Igid viewpoint. We walk for three (3) hours through forest-rich mountains, until we reach a high point offering a view of Pula, our first Ifugao village. After admiring the houses and the terraced rice fields from afar, we descend to the village and discover a more intimate experience of Pula by spending our first night there.

  • day 3

    Cambulo and Batad

    After breakfast, we leave for Cambulo, our second Ifugao village. The rice terraces of Cambulo are characterized by their pyramidal appearance, with terraces carved almost 360 degrees around the mountains. From Cambulo, there are still three (3) hours of walking to Batad, famous for its amphitheater of rice terraces. The night is spent in a village inn with a spectacular view of the terraces.

  • day 4

    Bangaan

    In the morning, we do three (3) hours of hiking to visit the Tappiyah waterfalls and explore the village as well as the Batad rice terraces. After lunch, we leave for Bangaan, the last village of our adventure. On the way, we cross other rice fields and see picturesque villages and rice terraces in the distance. We arrive in Bangaan in the middle of the afternoon, then we return to Banaue to get some well-deserved food and drinks before taking our evening bus to Manila.

    Arrival in Manila

    Around 4 a.m., we arrive at the same bus station where our journey began.
