  Rio de Janeiro - Arrival

  

  Flight to Rio de Janeiro. Welcome at the airport and private transfer to your hotel. As this is a tailor-made trip, we adapt the schedule of visits according to flight times. After a long flight from France (+/-11h) and the time difference, we generally suggest a bit of rest before starting the visits. However, we remain open to any wishes you may have. Dinner at leisure. Overnight at ARENA LEME - sea view room.

  Corcovado and Sugarloaf

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. In the morning, visit to Christ offering an indescribable view of the bay of Rio de Janeiro. "Corcovado" is a distortion of the word "hunchback" in Portuguese, used to designate the mountain that dominates Rio from its 710 meters and on which stands the giant statue (38 m high, 28 m wide) of Christ the Redeemer, created by the French sculptor Paul Landowski. With his open arms, he personifies the welcome and hospitality of the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. The panorama will allow you to understand its layout. One of the most beautiful views of Rio... Unforgettable! Lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, visit to Sugarloaf Mountain, ascent by cable car. You will enjoy the superb view of Guanabara Bay. Dinner at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

  Colonial Rio

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. In the morning, private tour of colonial Rio with a bilingual French-speaking guide. Walk through old Rio, cultural corridor, Tiradentes Palace, Lapa dos Mercadores Church, Praça XV, Casa França-Brasil, Candelária Church, Saint Benedict Monastery and its gold-covered church. We will end the tour with a visit to the superb modern metropolitan cathedral, inspired by an Inca temple. Lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, visit the Santa Teresa district and discover the Selarón steps. Dinner at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

  Manaus

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. Private transfer to Rio airport. Flight to Manaus. Welcome at the airport and private transfer to the hotel. Lunch and dinner at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Overnight at the Saint Paul.

• day 5

  Amazonia

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. The final program will be given to you at the lodge. In the Amazon, we offer a choice between several lodges, or even boats depending on your wishes and the time you have available. Some lodges are located 3-4 hours from Manaus. We also take into account if you are traveling as a family, with children. As mentioned, we offer other lodge options in the Amazon.

• day 6

  Amazon, forest and animals

  

  After breakfast, canoe trip in the flooded forest ("igapó") and in the small river branches, tributaries of the Rio Negro ("igarapés"). Lunch scheduled around noon, followed by a visit to the pink dolphins and the craft shops in Novo Airão (2-3h). Dinner scheduled around 7:00 pm. Overnight at the Lodge.

• day 7

  Amazon, nature and culture

  

  05:00 - Sunrise and birdwatching by canoe (1-2 h), followed by breakfast. Then, piranha fishing (3 h) and return around noon for lunch. In the afternoon, visit to the Tiririca indigenous community for a presentation of their culture (3 h). Return planned for dinner. Overnight at the lodge.

  Amazon - São Luís

  

  Breakfast. Return transfer to Manaus airport. Arrival in Manaus. Flight to São Luis. Welcome and transfer to the hotel Free dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

• day 9

  Lençóis Maranhenses, Barreirinhas

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. Morning, private transfer (+/- 03h30 drive) to your hotel in Barreirinhas, gateway to the Lençóis! Check-in at the hotel. With 155 thousand hectares, equivalent in size to the largest city in South America (São Paulo), the Lençóis receive the imprecise, not to say misleading, designation of "Brazilian Desert." The rainfall rate is 1750 mm per year, it rains there three hundred times more than in the Sahara, thus creating a surreal landscape: an ocean of sand interspersed with a green oasis and hundreds of crystal-clear lagoons full of fish and small crustaceans. The Preguiças River is also responsible for dividing the Lençóis into two parts: the Great and the Small Lençóis. The first impresses with its vastness, its dunes, and its lagoons. The second, with its diversity, since in a single photo you can capture the river, the sea, the mangrove, the countryside, and the dunes with their lagoons. Free lunch. Free afternoon. Free dinner.   The Lençóis Maranhenses

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. In the morning, departure by Toyota 4x4, 50 minutes through sandy tracks to the foot of the dunes. Short walk to Lagoa Bonita and swimming. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, visit to Lagoa Azul. Magnificent view of the sunset and the dunes. Dinner at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Barreirinhas.

  Boat

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. Full day, departure at 08:30 by "voadeira". Descent of the Rio Preguiças, stop at Vassouras for a short walk on the Pequenos (small) Lençóis. Lunch at leisure. Continue along the river to Mandacaru. Climb to the lighthouse to admire the view. Return to Barreirinhas at the end of the afternoon. Dinner at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Barreirinhas.

  Parnaiba

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. In the morning, 4x4 transfer from Barreirinhas to Tutóia (about 2h30) along the beach and dunes to Paulino Neves, then sandy road to Tutóia. Boarding at the port of Tutóia on a voadeira for the Delta crossing (about 4h30 with a lunch stop not included). The Parnaíba Delta remains as beautiful and majestic as in those distant days. Formed by 85 islands over an area of 2,700 km² between the states of Piauí and Maranhão, the only delta in the Americas is a rare phenomenon found only on the Nile in Africa and the Mekong in Asia.   Jericoacoara

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. Transfer by 4x4 to Jericoacoara, passing by the beaches. Lunch and dinner at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel. In Jericoacoara, we offer about twenty hotel/pousada options.

• day 14

  Jericoacoara at the hotel

  

  Brazilian breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. Free day in Jericoacoara. Possibility to plan a buggy day. For kitesurfing lessons, we suggest planning 3 half-days (theory/learning). On March 15, 1987, the prestigious American newspaper Washington Post published a list of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. The selection criteria mainly took into account the beauty and exoticism of the places. To the general surprise of Brazilians, an unknown beach on the west coast of Ceará was at the top of the list, with a rather strange name: Jericoacoara. From that moment, American and European adventurers, followed by Brazilians, began to arrive at this distant paradise beach. Lunch and dinner at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
