day 1
Pick-up at the airport - Arusha Coffee LodgeOur representative staff will pick you up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and take you to your accommodation, the Arusha Coffee Lodge, located at the foot of Mount Meru and hidden among one of Tanzania's largest coffee plantations. You will stay in one of the plantation's cottages, with unique architecture dating back to the early 1900s. The interiors feature a coffee bean-themed design and amenities include a bar, a comfortable lounge, as well as a pool and a garden terrace. In the morning, you will wake up to the aromas of the brew coming from the main plantation as your breakfast is being prepared.
day 2
Tarangire National ParkAfter breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver/guide, who will take you to Tarangire National Park, located in the Manyara region. Tarangire is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, after Ruaha, Serengeti, Mikumi, Katavi, and Mkomazi. Activities will include a wildlife safari, where you may see pythons climbing trees, as well as lions and leopards, among others. For bird lovers, keep an eye out for the noisy flocks of colorful yellow-collared lovebirds, the rufous-tailed weaver, and the ashy starling, which is a bit duller. These are all endemic to the dry savannah of north-central Tanzania. Dinner and overnight stay in your luxury camp inside the park.
day 3
Tarangire National Park: walking safariAfter breakfast, we will proceed with a walking safari escorted by a professional armed ranger. In the afternoon, there will be another safari in Tarangire National Park. In this park, you will see large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions, and the fascinating baobabs, also called the tree of life for the almost mythical powers that some cultures attribute to them. This park is particularly known for the Tarangire River, which flows all year round and is the only source of water for wild animals during the dry season. In the evening, return to camp for dinner by the campfire and overnight.
day 4
Lake Manyara National ParkAfter breakfast, we will head to Lake Manyara National Park for another exciting safari. Lake Manyara National Park is a picturesque lake that prompted Ernest Hemingway to exclaim: "the most beautiful I have seen in Africa." Manyara offers a perfect introduction to Tanzania's birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and if you are lucky, you can expect to see 100 in a single day. Inside the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia forests is the favorite spot of the legendary tree-climbing lions of Manyara and elephants with impressive tusks. In the evening, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
day 5
The Ngorongoro CraterAfter breakfast, we will leave for a full day safari in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is a vast mountainous area along the eastern arm of the Great Rift Valley, with the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. It is not a national park in the strict sense of the term, but rather it was created to conserve wildlife and other natural resources. It exists to safeguard the interests of indigenous peoples and to promote tourism. Thus, safari guests have the unique experience of seeing Maasai herders with their cattle among the wide variety of wildlife found in the area. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
day 6
The Serengeti National ParkAfter breakfast, we will leave for Serengeti National Park with a picnic and a safari en route via Olduvai Gorge, the oldest and most popular national park in Tanzania. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, recently proclaimed the 7th wonder of the world, is famous for its annual migration where some six million hooves pound the open plains. Between July and October, witness the survival of the fittest as these animals plunge into crocodile-infested waters. The wildebeest produces more than 8,000 calves per day before the 1,000 km (600 mile) pilgrimage begins again. The Serengeti offers a unique exotic safari experience in Africa, giving you a glimpse of animals you have only seen in National Geographic: large herds of buffalo, small groups of elephants and giraffes, as well as thousands of elands, topis, kongonis, impalas, and Grant's gazelles. Dinner and overnight at the luxury camp.
