Arrival on the island of SumbaUpon your arrival at Tambolaka airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver, who will accompany you to your hotel. If you are not too exhausted from the long flight, you can visit the local market at your own pace and discover the small town of Tambolaka. You can also take the opportunity to relax by the hotel pool.
day 2
Discovery of the Kodi regionThis morning, you will take the road towards the Kodi region. On the way, you will be able to observe cashew trees and teaks, as well as villages and graves in front of the houses. You will also make a stop to observe local activities, visit markets, follow rivers... During the day, you will visit villages with your guide, who will introduce you to the village chief and explain the rules to follow in the villages. You will also have the chance to go to the magnificent paradise beaches, offering superb viewpoints, and discover a small fishing village with its colorful boats. Finally, you will go to Waikuri Lagoon, where you will have time to swim, snorkel, stroll peacefully, observe birds, or enjoy an excellent refreshing coconut.
day 3
Visit to Waikelo SawahAfter a good early breakfast, you will set off to discover Waikelo Sawah. Once you arrive, you will walk to the fresh water spring, then through the rice fields. A unique experience to have, as Sumba is a very dry island with few rice fields. You will also be able to discover the lifestyle and culture of the locals. The traditional market of Waikelo is a must-see. You will learn how to chew betel leaves and make a stop at an antique shop where you will discover very old cultural objects from all over the island of Sumba. Your guide will explain Sumbanese culture to you and introduce you to the chiefs of the villages of Tarung and Waitabar, which you will then be able to visit.
day 4
Heading to the central southern region of Sumba.Today, you will experience the highlight of the day. Indeed, you will have the privilege of swimming in the most beautiful waterfall in Sumba. This freshwater pool, in the middle of tropical vegetation, is a pure moment of happiness and relaxation in the heart of nature. After your picnic by the beach, you can explore the central region of southern Sumba, with a stop at an important site where the largest Pasola are held annually in March, to admire the panorama of the rice fields and beaches from the top of this hill. You will have the privilege of discovering the most beautiful traditional village in the region and can enjoy free time on the deserted beach, with various activities.
day 5
Immersion in the east of the islandYou will leave the center to head to the east of the island. On the way, you will visit a village with enormous tombstones, the largest in Sumba, then you will stop to taste grilled corn and admire one of the most beautiful viewpoints over Sumba's green hills, with wild horses. You will arrive in the east at the end of the afternoon and can go directly to the largest weaving center in Sumba. Your guide will explain the entire process of dyeing the threads with natural dyes from plants, as well as the weaving. You will have dinner in a local restaurant and have the chance to enjoy a good, typical, and delicious dish made with grilled fish.
day 6
Visit to the eastern region of Sumba.Today, you will continue exploring the eastern region of Sumba with a visit to the traditional village of the oldest kingdom of Sumba, which includes magnificent carved tombstones. Many funeral ceremonies are held there, and you will also be able to observe the weaving of beautiful traditional Ikat. A short half-hour trek will take you for a swim in an impressive waterfall. On the way back, you will make a short stop at a beach to admire the sunset over the mangrove and the sea, while enjoying a fruit juice or a cold beer.
day 7
Free day and relaxation.Take advantage of this free day to relax on the beach, with its fine white sand and crystal-clear waters. You can also enjoy various activities, including snorkelling. The hotel has a spa that you can enjoy while having a good time. If you want a livelier day, you can rent a bike, a canoe, or go horseback riding on the beach.

Return flightAfter this incredible one-week stay on the secret island of Sumba, the Indonesian jewel, it is unfortunately time to return home.
