GUAYAQUIL or QUITO – GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS: BALTRA – SANTA CRUZ ISLANDFlight from Guayaquil or Quito to the Galápagos archipelago (2h to 3h). Arrival at Baltra Island airport, then land and sea transfer to Santa Cruz Island, up to Puerto Ayora, the largest city in the Galápagos. Check-in at the hotel. Lunch, then visit to the El Chato reserve (or in the morning after the flight, with driver), where you can discover, observe, and approach the famous semi-wild giant tortoises, as well as explore lava tunnels. Free tour of Puerto Ayora, bordered by the beautiful Academy Bay, and possibility to swim in the Pacific Ocean. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
day 2
SANTA FE ISLAND or SEYMOUR ISLAND or PLAZAS ISLANDSanta Fe Island Breakfast then land transfer and navigation to Santa Fe Island. Observation of a forest of giant endemic cacti, colonies of seabirds such as pelicans, boobies, gulls, as well as sea lions and possibly marine iguanas. Snorkeling session and swimming with rays, sea lions, and tropical fish. Afterwards, lunch on board. Navigation back to Santa Cruz Island. Dinner at your leisure. Night at the hotel. OR AS AN OPTION, with a supplement: excursion to North Seymour Island or South Plaza, islands richer in wildlife. North Seymour Island Early departure for a full-day tour on Seymour Island, the paradise of blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, finches, land iguanas among the giant cacti. Possible snorkeling or swimming session. After lunch on board the boat, short navigation to the beautiful Bachas beach, on Santa Cruz Island, possible swimming, tour of the site. Then return to Santa Cruz, to Puerto Ayora, to the hotel. OR South Plaza Island (with supplement) Early departure for Plaza Island, where you can observe the largest sea lion colony of the archipelago, and several groups of marine iguanas and possibly land iguanas. On the trail leading to the other side of the island, you will observe several species of birds such as blue-footed boobies, masked boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, frigatebirds, pelicans, and other tropical birds. After lunch on board the boat, navigation to the Punta Carrión site on Santa Cruz Island, tour of this site to observe more animals and birds and to swim. Then return to Santa Cruz, to Puerto Ayora, to the hotel.
day 3
SANTA CRUZ ISLAND - ISABELA ISLANDAfter breakfast, navigation to Isabela Island, the largest of the archipelago. Arrival at the village of Puerto Villamil, then visit to the flamingo lagoon. Lunch in a local restaurant, then transfer to the islet "Tintoreras," where there is a colony of marine iguanas and a colony of penguins. Snorkeling session among tropical fish, sea turtles, harmless sharks, sea lions... Rest, tour of the village. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
day 4
ISABELA ISLAND – SANTA CRUZ ISLANDTransfer by vehicle, then walk to the edge of the spectacular Sierra Negra volcano on Isabela Island, whose caldera is one of the largest in the world. Continue walking around the crater, then to the Chico volcano, enjoying impressive and unique lava landscapes. Lunch at the Campo Duro finca. Then return to Puerto Villamil and sail back to Santa Cruz Island, Puerto Ayora. Dinner at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
day 5
SANTA CRUZ ISLAND – BALTRA – RETURN FLIGHT TO GUAYAQUIL OR FLIGHT TO QUITOEarly breakfast. Then visit the Twin Craters of Santa Cruz Island, or, as an option, visit the famous Charles Darwin Research Station. Next, transfer by bus or taxi to Baltra airport, then flight to Quito or Guayaquil.
