• day 1

  AIRPORT - DAMBULLA (160 km - 4h30)

  

  Arrival at Colombo / Bandaranayake International Airport and welcome with a flower garland. Direct transfer to Dambulla. On the way, visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla, built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC. Today, it is one of the World Heritage sites. You will go from room to room to discover magnificent Buddha sculptures. Its walls and ceilings, covered with colorful paintings, represent the largest area of frescoes in the world. Please note: for the visit of this temple, it is required to wear clothing covering the knees and shoulders. Transfer to the hotel and check-in to the rooms. Lunch at leisure (not included). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Dambulla.

  DAMBULLA - MATALE - KANDY (90 km - 3h00)

  

  Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road to Kandy via: Sigiriya Visit of the Citadel of Sigiriya or "Lion Rock", a romantic and grandiose ancient site, with the world-famous frescoes of the "Maidens of Sigiriya". Visit of Nalanda Gedige, the oldest building constructed entirely of stone in Sri Lanka. It dates from the 8th century and forms a remarkable blend of Hindu and Buddhist architectures. Probably a Mahayana sanctuary, its stones, which are being reassembled, show tantric sculptures with sexual subjects, rare in Sri Lanka. *Matalé: visit of the spice gardens offering all the indigenous varieties such as peppers, cardamoms, nutmeg, cloves, chilies... Tasting of spiced tea and demonstration of the therapeutic virtues of each plant. Tasting of spiced tea and massages with natural products in the gardens, and free time in the shop (sale of spices and plant-based products). Continuation to Kandy. Cultural center of the country, the city fell into the hands of the English as early as 1815. Nestled in a green valley (between the last rice fields and the first tea plantations), surrounded by low hills and encircled by the Mahaweli, the largest river in Sri Lanka, Kandy remains a center of crafts, music, and dance.   KANDY - PINNAWALA - PERADENIYA - KANDY (45 km - 1h30)

  Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for the visit of the elephant orphanage, where you can watch these friendly mammals bathe or eat. Around sixty elephants, including babies, are fed, trained for work, and benefit from the protection of the "Wild Life Authority". Optional: USD 10.00 per person. Visit of the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens: among the most beautiful in the world, they have the finest species of tropical trees, spices, flowers, and fruits, over nearly 60 hectares. Visit of the city and the local market of Kandy, and free time for shopping in the alleys lined with many stalls offering: silks, local crafts, jewelry, basketry, masks, umbrellas… Visit of the city of Kandy and free time for shopping. Visit of the Royal Palace, the Temple of the Tooth or "Dalada Maligawa", which houses the sacred relic of the Tooth of Buddha. In the evening, a show of Kandyan dances with a great fire-walking performance. Lunch on your own (not included). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Kandy.

  KANDY - NUWARA ELIYA (95 km - 3h15)

  

  Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Peradeniya station. Train journey to Gampola (unreserved seats). Continue by car to Ramboda. On the way, visit a tea plantation and its factory. Short walk in the famous climate resort, once created by the English. Continue to the hotel. Check-in to the rooms and rest of the day at leisure. Lunch at leisure (not included). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

• day 5

  NUWARA ELIYA - KITULGALA - COLOMBO (200 km - 5h00)

  After breakfast, drive to Colombo via Kithulgala, Norton Bridge, Laxapana, and Ginigathlena, sites where many scenes of the famous film "The Bridge on the River Kwai" were filmed. Discovery of the city of Colombo. Known since the 8th century by Arab, Persian, and Chinese merchants, this village, nestled between two dunes, served as a trading post on the spice route. The Portuguese, eager to control trade in the Indian Ocean, settled there and, with the authorization of the King of Kotte, built a fort in 1518 for their prospecting as well as a civil and military town, rich in churches, schools, and hospitals. Today, Colombo is the political and economic capital of the country. Continue to the hotel. Welcome at the hotel and check-in to the rooms.   COLOMBO - TRANSFER TO THE MALDIVES

  

  Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Colombo airport for your flight to the Maldives. Check-in to the rooms at 2:00 pm. All Inclusive package at the hotel.
