Trip Description

From Tortuguero, the country's little Amazon, to the far reaches of the South Pacific, passing by the Arenal volcano, Tenorio park, and the well-kept secrets of Paquera, this tour immerses you in the natural and cultural richness of Costa Rica, between thermal waters, mangroves, tropical wildlife, and spectacular waterfalls. Over the days, you will discover Tica culture, medicinal plants, coffee and sugar cane plantations, hidden waterfalls, secret caves, and deserted beaches, while enjoying each evening the comfort of warm accommodations, as close to nature as possible.

Stay program

  • day 1

    Arrival at the airport. A driver will be waiting for you at the exit to take you to your hotel, where a member of the agency will give you your travel booklet as well as your breakable SIM card, adaptable to any smartphone. Night at the Presidente hotel.

  • day 2

    Departure early in the morning to reach Tortuguero, by minibus and then by boat. It is a major breeding ground for Leatherback turtles and Hawksbill turtles (July to October). This wetland area enjoys exceptional biodiversity and, besides turtles in season, it is easy to observe: howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, sloths, toucans, multicolored birds, anteaters, caimans… You access this region by bus and then by boat. A guaranteed change of scenery!

  • day 3

    It is by boat or by kayak that you will set out to discover the biodiversity of Tortuguero. Here, you can easily observe 3 species of monkeys, dozens of species of birds, caimans, freshwater turtles and, during the season, sea turtles. A total immersion in the tropical forest.

  • day 4

    Back on solid ground, where you take possession of your rental car. Then, you head to the Arenal region. It is mainly the hanging bridges, zip lines, waterfalls, and hot springs that attract travelers.

  • day 5

    Along a trail of paths and 16 hanging bridges, you will set out to discover the secrets of the forest, accompanied by your French-speaking guide. A true natural sanctuary, you will be able to observe the many species that inhabit the area. At the end of the day, you will go relax at the Paradise Hot Springs Thermal Waters. A true fountain of youth.

  • day 6

    In the morning, you join the Tenorio National Park and your French-speaking guide. A discovery of the national park and its famous Rio Celeste awaits you. The celestial blue river remains the highlight of the region. The climatic conditions, influenced by the Caribbean and the Pacific, make it a privileged place for observing many species such as birds, tapirs, pumas, sloths, anteaters, frogs, butterflies…

  • day 7

    You take the road to the Gulf of Nicoya. The small town of Paquera is home to the ferry terminal on the Gulf of Nicoya. This little-visited area is still worth a detour. Playa Organos, for example, is a light sandy beach in a wide, quiet bay surrounded by jungle, a real postcard!

  • day 8

    Guided tour in the Curú reserve. The Curú Wildlife Refuge is located within a vast private property. It protects marine and coastal habitats. A visit that will let you discover the dry tropical forest, mangroves, and marine areas. It is an opportunity to observe a large number of animals: capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, white-tailed deer, agoutis, crocodiles, etc.

  • day 9

    You follow the Pacific coast to reach Uvita, which marks the transition between the central and southern Pacific. It is from here that you find the largest number of nature reserves and indigenous tribes. Along the coast, Marino Ballena National Park welcomes humpback whales between August and November. Further south, Ojochal and Sierpe. You will notice from here the lush vegetation that covers the hills and literally plunges into the sea.

  • day 10

    You are setting off for a day of adventure: a trek to the Los Diamantes waterfalls and a night under a tent for an off-the-beaten-path experience. An intense tropical adventure where you can enjoy a beautiful abseiling descent (optional) in a magical waterfall.

  • day 11

    Back to the Pacific coast for three nights in a charming hotel. Enjoy the views and sunsets.

  • day 12

    Excursion to Corcovado Park – San Pedrillo – Lunch included: you will go to Sierpe, then take a boat to discover Corcovado National Park, at the San Pedrillo station. It is the richest park in the country!

  • day 13

    Before leaving, a day of relaxation to enjoy the hotel and the many surrounding beaches. Why not visit the Marino Ballena National Park?
