Your driver will be waiting for you at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, near San José, 1,150 meters above sea level in the heart of the Central Valley, to take you to your hotel.

The little Amazon of Costa Rica

Early in the morning, departure in grouped service to the unmissable Tortuguero region on the Caribbean coast.

On the way, you will first cross the lush Braulio Carrillo Park covered with a thick tropical rainforest and torrential rains, before going along the banana plantations of which Costa Rica is one of the first exporters in the world. It is at Caño Blanco or La Pavona, depending on the water level, that you will board a motorboat to sail between the tropical flora and fauna to the lodge.

In the afternoon you can enjoy the gardens and swimming pool or visit the Caribbean village of Tortuguero.

The little Amazon of Costa Rica

In the morning or afternoon (schedule to be confirmed on site), departure for the canals of Tortuguero National Park. This large water park is entirely made up of canals and lagoons in the middle of an impressive jungle, to which it owes its nickname of "Costa Rica's Amazon".

It is thus through this unique and extraordinary network of canals, rivers and marshes in the heart of the jungle, that you will leave with your guide to discover caimans, toucans, turtles, howler monkeys, parrots, sloths, iguanas and multicoloured birds.

During the rest of the day, you can enjoy the lodge's swimming pool and trails, or activities departing from the lodge (not included, to be booked on site).

Day 4 : Tortuguero National Park - Guapiles - Arenal Volcano

Transport from Tortuguero to Guápiles

In the morning after breakfast, you will sail to the landing stage of Caño Blanco or La Pavona depending on the water level, before heading back to Guápiles.

Road from Guapiles to Arenal.

Continuation by vehicle to reach the region of La Fortuna and the majestic Arenal volcano (1,635 metres).

Approximate driving time: 2 hours 30.

Night at Arenal Observatory Lodge.

Enjoy the guided morning hike included on the lodge's trails.

Visit of the Asis Foundation & volunteering

You will have the opportunity to explore the reserve with your guide to get to know each animal and its history. You'll learn why animal conservation is important, how it should be done and what impact you have while having fun with our friendly guides who will engage you and help you think about conservation in new ways. 

Then, you'll have the opportunity to learn how to prepare food to increase commitment, bring food to the animals, create fun and rewarding activities for them to improve the animals' daily routine, which will be the highlight of your visit.

Approximate duration: 3.5 hours.

Relaxation in the Baldi Spa

Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation and fun in the Baldi Spa. You will be able to take advantage of the various baths and swimming pools, waterfalls and slides. The warm waters come directly from the hot springs of the Arenal volcano without ever coming into contact with the magma.

Approximate duration: 4 hours.

Dinner included on site.

Day 6 : Arenal Volcano - Volcano Tenorio

Road from Arenal to Tenorio.

Departure to the Miravalles (2,028 metres above sea level) and Tenorio (1,916 metres above sea level) volcanoes.

Approximate driving time: 2 hours.

Night at the Finca Mei Tai.

Tenorio National Park

You will explore one of the most beautiful trails in the country between jungle, waterfalls and natural hot springs. You will have the opportunity to discover the Rio Celeste famous for its unreal turquoise blue colour (which intensifies with the reflection of the light rays) due to the minerals in its waters which contrast with the intense green of the tropical vegetation.

36 km long, the Rio Celeste originates at the meeting point of 2 rivers, crosses volcanic hot springs, sulphur springs, before forming a magnificent waterfall.

Approximate duration: 2 hours 30.

Day 8 : Tenorio Volcano - Samara

In the morning, departure for the Nicoya peninsula.

You will cross the Puente de la Amistad before reaching Nicoya, the administrative centre of the peninsula which lives at the rhythm of the comings and goings of campesinos (peasants) and cowboys. You will cross varied landscapes before reaching the small seaside resort of Samara.

Then, installation at the hotel near a beautiful white sand beach, ideal site for idleness or swimming in the turquoise waters of the Pacific.

Note : 3 to 4 hours drive approximately

Day 10 : Samara - Monteverde Reserve

Road from Samara to Monteverde.

Departure in the direction of the Monteverde region, whose reserve offers landscapes of alpine pastures in the heart of the Tilarán mountain range.

Approximate driving time: 3 hours and a half.

Sensational zip lines and suspension bridges

Strong sensations guaranteed in complete safety. You will explore the treetops by zip-line, sliding along cables from one platform to another. It is a network of 18 platforms (with a total length of 5 km) built in the treetops.

You will then access a 3 km trail through the forest via suspension bridges over the canopy. You will safely enjoy a breathtaking view of the biodiversity while crossing 8 bridges (from 50 to 170 meters long)!

Departure for the Costa Rican Pacific coast.

Weather permitting, possibility to observe crocodiles on the Rio Tarcoles before reaching Manuel Antonio.

Note: Manuel Antonio National Park closed on Mondays.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Swimming in the crystal clear waters, relaxing on the sandy beaches, walking in the tropical vegetation...

The site is ideal for observing many animals such as sloth and squirrel monkeys.
