Reception at the international airport and transfer to Antigua Guatemala. Sleeping in the hollow of the Agua, Fuego and Acaténango volcanoes, is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in America.

Day 2 : ANTIGUA - PANAJACHEL

Breakfast

Antigua was founded at the beginning of the 16th century. The charm of this colonial city, which articulates its streets in a checkerboard pattern according to the canons of the Renaissance and former capital of Guatemala has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.

Visit of the Santa Clara convent founded in 1699, largely destroyed by earthquakes. The cathedral dominating the Place d'Armes surrounded by the old government buildings. The Palace of the Captains General built in 1549 and the Town Hall.

The San Francisco church where rests the brother Pedro de Bethancourt, venerated figure of the Franciscans.

Visit of the magnificent convent of Santo Domingo restored into a luxury hotel and its 5 museums including the very beautiful colonial museum.

Visit to the church and convent of La Merced.

Depart to Panajachel.

Day 3 : PANAJACHEL - SAN JUAN LA LAGUNA - PANAJACHEL

Breakfast

Boat excursion to discover San Juan la Laguna located around the lake Atitlan.

We will cross the lake to visit San Juan La Laguna, little tzutuhil town where we will be in touch with several Indians associations ( painters, weaving, medicinal trails plantation, coffee farmers)

Return to Panajachel.

Overnnight




Day 4 : PANAJACHEL - CHICHICASTENANGO - GUATEMALA

Breakfast

Departure to Chichicastenango, this small village has long been the hiding place of one of the greatest treasures of Guatemala, the Popol Vuh, bible of the Quiché Indians.

Visit of the Church of Santo Tomás, where we observe the syncretism of the Catholic religion and Mayan ceremonies.

Walk in the market

Transfer to Guatemala City

Day 5 : GUATEMALA - FLORES - YAXHA - FLORES

Box breakfast

Early in the morning, transfer to airport and flight to  Flores.

Departure to this magnificent MAYAN site of YAXHA built on the edge of the lagoon of the same name. The second most important site in Guatemala is located in the middle of the tropical jungle and was recently declared a National Park. This site was the most important ceremonial center of the region. This site consists of a complex of twin pyramids and several Acropolises

In the afternoon, return to Flores.

Day 6 : FLORES - TIKAL - FLORES

Breakfast

Transfer to Tikal to explore the tropical jungle and discover among ancient trees of the Great Jaguar Temple and the Masks, which dominate the Great Plaza, North Acropolis through the Lost World is reached, which overlooks the Temple of the Serpent , with its 70 meters high.

Retur to Flores

Day 7 : D7 FLORES-RIO DULCE -LIVINGSTON

Breakfast

Continuation to the Atlantic coast.

Boat trip on the beautiful Rio Dulce River. Panoramic visit to the fort located at the mouth of the great lake of Izabal. The conquistadors often fought against pirates to protect their territory and they built a defensive fort here. Continuation to Livingston, this village of black population "Garifuna", where the flavor and the warmth of the Caribbean are discovered in the regional dance, music and food. Arrival and accommodation at the hotel.




Day 8 : D8 LIVINGSTON-RIO DULCE -QUIRIGUA -ANTIGUA

Breakfast

Boat trip to reach Rio Dulce. On the road, visit the archaeological site of Quirigua, where the largest stelae of the Maya world and Mesoamerica are erected. Continuation to Antigua Guatemala.

Day 9 : ANTIGUA

Breakfast

Departure to San Miguel Escobar village.

Walk through the fields of corn, beans, coffee, avocado trees with a magnificent view of the volcanoes, the villages and the city of Antigua. Meeting with small farmers. Participation in the coffee harvest. Continuation with a family of small coffee growers for the selection of coffee, and to transform the cherry coffee into coffee and to finally drink a cup of coffee.

Return to Antigua.
