Stay in a charming distillery inside a sugarcane plantation

Trip description

Do you like original and immersive trips?

How to discover Martinique in a more original way than by staying in one of its distilleries? Your rental villa is the annex to a typically colonial 18th century house (a distillery still in operation!). It has a large private swimming pool, its tennis court and is surrounded by nature. Surrounded by a 3 hectare garden, you benefit from a lovely open view of the surrounding countryside and the sea. An original and atypical concept: living holiday time in a distillery still in operation! Charming decoration and atypical setting for this house steeped in history and located near the Atlantic Ocean.

In addition it is possible to really get into the beauty of a rum. Each day a different activity is planned to make you discover this trade: you will thus create your own caribbean white rum ...

Day 1 : Welcome to Martinique and installation in your villa

Upon arrival, you will collect your rental car directly from the airport.

Then off we go towards your rental house (40 min drive). Installation in your house then relaxation.

This one is located in the heart of a still active distillery: ideal for discovering the secrets and anecdotes of making Martinican rum famous throughout the world.

The house is very confortable to spend holidays with family or friends: 3 to 4 air-conditioned bedrooms (2 to 3 double bedrooms + one bedroom with 4 single bunk beds), nicely decorated in a colonial spirit with lots of character and 3 bathrooms.

This morning a visit (non-private) allows you to visit the distillery and taste its different artisanal thums. Then take advantage of the day to relax on the estate: private swimming pool and tennis court are at your disposal.

Today a day in a private boat will make you discover small islands and blue lagoons. You make several stops in paradisiac places and the program is adjustable according to your desires of the moment. You bathe in beautiful white bottoms and lagoons of turquoise waters, in particular the famous Joséphine bathtub. Lunch is provided on board. At the end of the afternoon you join your accommodation.

Day 4 : Heading north caribbean

Saint-Pierre. ©Vincent FORMICA

Today we recommend you join the extreme North West of Martinique to discover its unspoiled and wild beaches, in particular Anse Couleuvre.

We recommend several restaurants typical of the region to stop for lunch. Do not miss to visit the Carbet Zoo, full of charm if you are with children. The ancient capital of the island, Saint-Pierre, is also a must. This city was destroyed by the infamous eruption of Mount Pelée at the start of the 20th century. Several museums provide more information on this tragedy and on the functioning of volcanoes.

After this busy day, you return to your home for the night.

Day 5 : Anses d'Arlet between beaches, coves and fishing villages

Day 6 : Hike and swim in a tropical river

Today, you are going to visit the Balata Gardens, a sublime journey into the world of tropical biodiversity.

Then, on our advice, you buy something to picnic to spend a typical Martinican day: stroll and lunch on the edge of a tropical river ... Without forgetting to bathe in refreshing water! According to your desires and the age of the children different hiking trails (ranging from 5 minutes to several hours of walking) are possible.

Return to your rental home in the late afternoon.
