Day 1 : Arrival in Burma

Welcome to Burma! Your driver will meet you at Yangon airport and drive you to your hotel where you will settle in quietly. Then, you will start to walk through the streets of the capital, visiting the Sule pagoda, the Bokyoke market, or the Shwedagon pagoda at the end of the day.




Day 2 : From Yangon to Mandalay

In the morning you will head to Yangon airport for a flight to Mandalay, where you will discover the city and its treasures. You will enter a gold beater's workshop: they are the makers of the gold leaf that adorns the Burmese pagodas, then you will visit the Mahamuni and Kuthodaw pagodas before climbing Mandalay Hill for the sunset.




Day 3 : Mandalay, and the former royal capitals

After your breakfast you will drive to Amarapura, the former royal capital of Burma and visit a longyi factory, a traditional local garment. Then we will head to Ava, or Inwa, which was also the capital of the kingdom. In the afternoon you will visit Sagaing, the religious and monastic centre of Buddhism, before crossing the picturesque U Bein Bridge.




Day 4 : From Mandalay to Bagan

In the morning you will board a boat that will take you to Bagan. During the whole day you will sail on the Irrawaddy, a quiet river with beautiful banks, small villages and many temples. There is a small café on the ship where you can have a meal.




Day 5 : Bagan, traditional city

In the morning, visit the Nyaung Oo market to smell the flavours of the region and stroll through the colourful aisles of exotic fruits and vegetables. You will then visit the Manuha temple and discover the art of lacquerware, famous in the region.  At the end of the day you will sail on the Irrawaddy river for the sunset.




Day 6 : Bagan, the temples by scooter

One of the highlights of your trip, the day promises to be magical: on an electric scooter, you will wander through the temples and pagodas of Bagan, one of the most beautiful sites in Asia. You will discover the mythical temples of Ananda and Sulamani, but it is the search for the small hidden temples and pagodas that is most exciting.




Day 7 : From Bagan to Kalaw

After watching the sunrise over the pagodas of Bagan in a sky decorated with hot air balloons, you will reach the airport. Your flight will take you to Heho, and from there you will drive to Pindaya and its caves filled with Buddha statues. Then you will drive to the village of Kalaw where you will spend the night.




Day 8 : From Kalaw to Nyaung Shwe

In the morning, you will leave for Aung Ban station for a train ride through the lush, green Burmese countryside towards Nyaung Shwe. Once there, you will reach the huge Inle Lake, perched in the heart of the Shan Mountains, is a real home to many local ethnic groups.




Day 9 : Lake Inle, the Burmese way of life

In the morning, you will climb into a traditional boat and discover the lake, its fishermen, its villages on stilts, its market... everything happens on the water! You can then visit the Phaung Daw Oo pagoda before heading to the picturesque lacust village of Nampan, known for its Burmese cigars, before returning to your hotel.




Day 10 : Last day in Burma

You wake up this morning knowing that you will be spending your last moments on Burmese soil. You will take your flight from Heho to Yangon and if you have some time left you will gladly prolong your time in the streets of the capital. Finally your driver will take you to Yangon International Airport and you will say goodbye to Burma.
