The must-see places in Malta

Trip description

Holidays are often synonymous with relaxation! On the beaches or in the quiet countryside, you can relax in Malta without any problems. In the evening, some parts of the island are quieter and many places offer beautiful sunsets. In search of peace and quiet, consider a night tour of Mdina, Malta's former capital and now nicknamed 'The Silent City'.

Or sit on top of the cliffs of Dingli, gaze out over the landscape and enjoy the rest that a stay in the archipelago can offer.

History buffs will be delighted to learn that, in addition to all the monuments they can visit (no less than 320 in the capital Valletta alone), Malta has prehistoric temples considered to be the oldest megalithic monuments in Europe.

As you follow in the footsteps of the Knights of St John, you will realise how rich the island's history is. The island has been coveted by many countries over the years, until it finally gained its independence in 1964.

Turquoise waters, beaches, rocky coves and natural pools surrounded by cliffs... It would be a shame not to enjoy the water on your next holiday in Malta.

There are so many such little corners of paradise on the island that you will be surprised to find such beautiful water so close to home. Whether it's the Blue Lagoon in Comino with its clear water and fine sand, or the more secret cove of Wied Il-Għasri in Gozo, you're bound to fall under its spell.

Your stay in Malta will be a great opportunity to learn and grow. It is impossible not to be amazed by the country's architecture, which is very homogeneous and influenced by the Victorian era. As you pass through the museums or St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta, you will admire sumptuous works of art, including a famous painting by Caravaggio.

Finally, film lovers will follow in the footsteps of their favourite films and series, as the archipelago is a popular location for Hollywood productions (Titanic, James Bond, Game of Thrones, etc.).

Would you like to try new activities during your holiday? On land, at sea or in the air, this small island in the heart of the Mediterranean offers many possibilities for sportsmen, or all those who like to discover and explore, in search of more or less strong sensations.

Stand-up paddle, kayak, diving and snorkeling... All water sports are obviously available in Malta and for all levels.

If you like the land, there are also some great walks to do on the island. Finally, for those who are not afraid of heights, some sites offer the possibility of abseiling or zip-lining.

We know these islands better than anyone else and will guide you off the beaten track, for a unique travel experience away from the crowds. Of course, we will also show you the must-sees!

Authentik Malta offers to accompany you on your trip to Malta and help you to get a holiday that will make you discover the island's must-sees.

Today's excursion takes us to the central part of Malta, dominated by the medieval walled city of Mdina, Malta's former capital.
