This is a superb time of the year for the river crossings of the Mara, which continue almost daily throughout this period. It is a quiet region with a few camps, making for an exclusive game-viewing area that is perhaps the best in the whole park.

From August to October, the Mara River becomes the stage for one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles. During this period, herds gather along the riverbanks, and crossings take place almost daily, offering exceptional opportunities to witness the intensity and raw beauty of the Great Migration. This area remains relatively quiet, with only a limited number of camps operating nearby. The result is a far more exclusive safari experience, with fewer vehicles and uninterrupted wildlife encounters. Combined with the constant movement of the herds and the presence of predators along the river, it is widely regarded as one of the finest game-viewing locations in the entire park.

Tag 1
Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) to Arusha
Arrival in Arusha or at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Welcome and transfer to Arusha for the pre-safari briefing. Dinner and overnight at the African Tulip Hotel or similar (Bed & Breakfast).
Tag 2
Arusha to Northern Serengeti National Park
06:00am: Early breakfast at the hotel’s dining facilities. At 06:30am, you will be picked up at the hotel and depart on a transfer to Arusha Airport. Upon arrival, you will be assisted with check-in for the Regional Air flight to Kogatende (departure 08:00am / arrival 09:55am). Upon arrival, your safari guide will be waiting for you. He will pick you up, and you will begin a game drive. Lunch at Ang’ata Migration Tented Camp or similar. Afternoon game drive. Return to the camp before nightfall. Dinner and overnight at Ang’ata Migration Tented Camp or similar.

Full Day Around the Mara River
A full day reserved for morning and afternoon game drives to witness the Mara Crossing. All meals and overnight at Ang’ata Migration Tented Camp or similar.

Another Full Day in Kogatende near the Mara River
A full day reserved for morning and afternoon game drives to witness the Mara Crossing. All meals and overnight at Ang’ata Migration Tented Camp or similar.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Breakfast at the camp dining facilities. Allow yourself enough time to load your safari bags into the safari vehicle, as we will be departing the northern Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. To ensure you can enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing, we will carry packed lunches. Upon arrival in Ngorongoro, you will be assisted with checking into your well-prepared rooms. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Ang’ata Tented Camp or similar

Ngorongoro Crater Tour, then head to Tarangire National Park
An early breakfast at the camp dining facilities. With picnic lunch boxes, drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival at the rim, you will be escorted to the floor for the tour. Weather permitting, you might be able to spot the black rhino, while the rest of the Big Four can usually be spotted without difficulty. At midday, we shall stop by the picnic site to enjoy our delicious picnic lunch boxes. After afternoon game-viewing drives, and later in the day, once you are satisfied with the crater experience, ascend out and drive to Tarangire National Park. Dinner & Overnight at Tarangire Ang’ata Tented Camp or similar.

Tarangire National Park game drive, Kilimanjaro Airport
Breakfast at the camp’s dining facilities. With picnic lunch boxes, enjoy wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park, famous for its gigantic baobabs, its herds of elephants, its big cats, and more than 500 species of birds. At lunchtime, we will stop in the middle of nowhere to enjoy our delicious picnic lunch boxes. Later in the afternoon, we will head towards Arusha for the use of a day room. Then, we will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your international flight.
