Whale Watching

If you want to see whales, Iceland is the dream place. You'll find the best spots in the north of the country: the most recognized are the towns of Akureyri and Husavik.

Whale watching is available year-round, but the best period is summer, from June to August. You will find more than 20 different species.

Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa located in southwest Iceland, on the Reykjanesskagi peninsula.

The city benefits from the significant geothermal activity of this area located on the separation line of tectonic plates, which allows for electricity production and heating of homes. Indeed, temperatures range from 30 to 39°C.

It is a completely artificial lake that benefits from this system and thus produces water very rich in silica and algae, giving it its milky and bluish color.

Northern Lights

In Iceland, you can also observe the Northern Lights. It is a magnificent colorful light phenomenon visible in the northern hemisphere. They are also known as "polar lights."

The Northern Lights are visible at night. In Iceland, you can see them from September to March, and the luckiest may even catch a glimpse from August to April. However, January is the most favorable month.

Waterfalls

You will find two iconic waterfalls in Iceland: Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss.

Skogafoss is known for its impressive aspect: a fall of over 60 meters high and 25 meters wide. Seljalandsfoss, on the other hand, is appreciated for its long stream of water behind which you can walk.

These two waterfalls are located a few kilometers apart and are therefore easily accessible.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

The Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in southeast Iceland is an exceptional site and one of Iceland's must-sees.
