Whale Watching

If you want to see whales, Iceland is the dream destination. You will find the best spots in the north of the country: the most well-known are the towns of Akureyri and Husavik.

Whale watching is possible all year round, but the best period is in summer, from June to August. You can observe more than 20 different species there.

Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a thermal spa located in the southwest of Iceland, on the Reykjanesskagi.

The town benefits from the significant geothermal activity of this area located on the separation line of the plates, which allows for the production of electricity and heating of homes. In fact, the temperature there ranges from 30 to 39°C.

It is a completely artificial lake, which benefits from this system and thus produces water that is very rich in silica and algae, giving it its milky blue color.

The Northern Lights

In Iceland, you can also observe the Northern Lights. It is a magnificent colorful luminous phenomenon that is visible in the northern hemisphere. They are also known as "polar lights."

The Northern Lights are visible at night. In Iceland, you can see them from September to March, and the luckiest may have the chance to observe them from as early as August until April. However, January is the most favorable month.

The Waterfalls

You will find two iconic waterfalls in Iceland: Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss.

Skogafoss is known for its impressive side: a drop of more than 60 meters and a width of 25 meters. Seljalandsfoss, on the other hand, is appreciated for its long stream of water behind which you can walk.

These two waterfalls are located just a few kilometers from each other and are therefore easily accessible.

The Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

The Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, in the southeast of Iceland, is an exceptional place and one of the must-sees of Iceland.
