Today, with more than 19 kilometers in width, the Ngorongoro Crater is filled with large areas of acacia forest, swamps inhabited by hippos, and open grasslands. These different habitats are home to more than 30,000 animals, including elephants, warthogs, flamingos, magnificent birds, the rare black rhinoceros, and all the great predatory cats. The Maasai can also be seen grazing their cattle alongside buffalo and wildebeest.
day 5
Visit to Lake Eyasi - The Hadzabe and Tindiga tribesAfter an early morning breakfast, you leave for your cultural visit with the Hadzabe community. This is your day with a typical cultural tribe and you engage in a real hunt together. This is a tribe of hunters and gatherers, who once lived in the Serengeti, but were driven out by stronger and more aggressive tribes. The Hadzabe live traditionally, hunt game such as dik-diks, and collect honey. Their huts are simple, built in a few hours and just as easily abandoned. Like another hunter-gatherer people, the San tribe of the Kalahari in southern Africa, the Hadza speak a click language. After the hunt and exchanges with the tribe, you leave for Arusha with a stop for your lunch on the way. Later, you will be dropped off at your hotel or driven to Kilimanjaro airport for your return flight.
