Trip Description

In the heart of Berber country, the Draa wadi is a succession of oases and palm groves along the Draa valley, between the Anti-Atlas mountain range, the Hamada of Draa, and the stretches of sand. From Ouarzazate to the oasis of M’Hamid, our journey will be a cultural and traditional discovery of a hidden area between earth and sky, between dream and reality. It is a rich and varied culture that characterizes southeastern Morocco, whose simplicity and hospitality allow us to discover local customs and culinary traditions.

day 1
Arrival
Arrival in Ouarzazate, then transfer to your hotel.
day 2
Ouarzazate — Mhamid — Ras-Nkhal
Early morning departure to reach M’Hamid, the gateway to the Moroccan desert, crossing the Moroccan Anti-Atlas via the Tifntite pass (1700 m altitude). Descending the Drâa valley and the thousand kasbahs, you will reach the last oasis before the desert, passing through Tamgroute, a village renowned for pottery making, with the possibility of a visit. Then, departure to reach M’Hamid. Lunch with a local family and, in the afternoon, departure towards the starting point of our trek to meet our team of camel drivers. Musical evening around the fire, night at the bivouac under the tent or under the stars.

Rass Nkhal — Erg Douib — Sidi Naji (4h-6h walk)
After sunrise, breakfast, then departure to reach the Erg Sidi Naji. Lunch in the shade of the tamarisks. Then, a short walk to reach the bivouac site for a night under the stars or in a tent. Evening around the fire with nomad music.

Sidi Naji — Bousnaina — Erg Zahar (the howling dunes) (4 h walk)
After breakfast, a leisurely departure for the crossing of the small dried-up lake of Bousnina, before arriving at the Erg Zahar, a large dune overlooking the most beautiful part of the Moroccan desert.
day 5
ERG ZAHAR (The Howling Dunes) ------ Erg Lhdaibat (4h-6h walk)
After breakfast at Erg Zahar, we leave this magical desert to reach Erg Lhdaibat. We cross the Draa valley and the small tamarisk forest to reach Nabkt Sid Tib, where we will have lunch under the tamarisks. Then, departure after lunch to reach Erg Lhdaibat. Night around the fire to the rhythm of nomadic songs.

Erg Lhdaibat ---- Erg Khnata (4h-6h walk)
After breakfast, departure to calmly reach Erg Khnata by crossing the small tamarisk forest to reach the bivouac point near M’Hamid. Evening around the fire: this is your last evening with the team of camel drivers.
day 7
Erg Khnata — Mhamid — Zagora — Ouarzazate
We leave M’Hamid and the Moroccan desert to head to Ouarzazate. Lunch in Zagora, then departure for Ouarzazate. Overnight at the hotel.
