Trip Description

We want, through this tour, to help you discover another "desert", one that allows you to get away from the main tourist routes while visiting the emblematic sites around Djanet, such as Essendilène, the rock engravings of Dider, the Erg Admer and its endless dunes, as well as the Tuareg village of Ihrir. Another way to discover the Algerian desert. With this 4x4 tour, combined with a few hikes, you will discover life in the desert as the Tuaregs live it. You will thus be in harmony with nature, in tune with the rhythm of the sun and the stars… During the many walks offered, you will admire some rock paintings or engravings around a bend in the path. The magnificent oases, with their unexpected stretches of clear water, the gueltas, will amaze you: water is present there all year round. And of course, you will have the opportunity to taste an excellent couscous accompanied by the enchanting Tuareg music.

Stay program

day 1
Arrival in Djanet
Algiers flight, transfer to Algiers national airport (200 m away). Then Algiers flight at 10 p.m., arrival in Djanet at 12:15 a.m. (Sunday). Welcome at Djanet airport by our Tuareg guide and our team. After the formalities, our team and 4x4 vehicles will be waiting for you to take you to the nearby bivouac. You are already in the great desert.
day 2
Visit to the National Park
Breakfast and immediate departure by 4x4, passing through Djanet for some formalities necessary for visiting the national park. Short walk at the end of the afternoon in the Admer erg, with its endless dunes. Sunset at the top of a dune; first bivouac under the stars.
day 3
On the way to Tin Taghirt
In the morning, after a short transfer by 4x4, walk in the magnificent Essendilène canyon up to its guelta and visit in Dider the rock engravings at the Tin Taghirt site. In the afternoon: bivouac.
day 4
Hiking at Idaren
Hiking day to the village of Idaren via the Anaref plateau. Arrival at Ihrir after passing more than five gueltas, each more beautiful than the last. A picnic is planned by the water. Around a guelta, we will arrive in the village of Ihrir, where you will see the zeriba (round stone houses).
day 5
Direction Djanet
Departure by 4x4 towards Djanet. Hike in the afternoon at Tisras, with its orange dunes mixed with huge rocks of various shapes. Bivouac and couscous.
day 6
Tassili n'Ajjer Plateau
Very early morning hike to the famous Tassili N'Ajjer plateau, ascent of the cliff (about 650 meters of elevation gain) and visit to some sites with sublime rock paintings. Bivouac at Timras. (This hike can be replaced by an extra day in Ihrir or by a day of hiking in a landscape of sand and rocks.
day 7
Visit of Djanet
Discovery of "La Vache qui Pleure" before arriving in Djanet for a visit of the city, its gardens, and its market with its fabrics. Discovery of the city's blacksmiths, creators of Tuareg jewelry. Shower in the Moorish bath and transfer to the agency's guest house for a last night.
day 8
Back
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Algiers at 03:15. Arrival in Algiers at 05:30, then head to the international airport for the return flight.
