Trip Description

Set off to discover the deep south of Tunisia with a unique tour combining hiking, cultural discovery, and culinary experiences. From Djerba, cross the spectacular landscapes of the Dahar on foot, exploring Berber villages, fortified ksour, ancestral paths, and troglodyte houses. Each day is punctuated by friendly cooking workshops, where you will prepare and taste traditional dishes alongside the locals: wood-fired couscous, tabouna bread, chakchouka, and other Berber specialties.     Matmata

    * Departure by 4x4 at 7:30 am from your accommodation in Djerba. * Arrival in Matmata, visit of the troglodyte dwellings. * Start of the hike towards Tamezret, then Zeraoua, a small Amazigh village. * Cooking workshop: traditional wood-fired couscous with the women of the village. * Dinner and overnight at Dar Ayed in Tamezret. * Walk: ~10 km – Elevation gain: moderate.

    Zeraoua – Ksar Hallouf – Zammour

    Les Ksours

    * Departure on foot to Ksar Hallouf, visit of the fortified granaries. * Outdoor lunch with local specialties. * Arrival at Zammour, welcome by the inhabitants. * Cooking workshop: tabouna bread and chakchouka with local olive oil. * Night in the troglodyte house Dar Ennaim in Zammour. * Walk: ~12 km – Elevation: moderate to sustained.

    Zammour – Chenini – Return to Djerba

    Chenini

    * Hike to Chenini, a perched village with a panoramic view. * Visit of the village with a local guide and tea break with the inhabitants. * Cooking workshop: Berber dish + traditional lunch * Return transfer by 4×4 to Djerba (arrival in the late afternoon) * Walk: ~10 km – Elevation gain: light to moderate
