  • day 1

    Arrival Paro – Thimphu

    Arrival in Paro and welcome by our team, then departure for Thimphu, the capital of the country. Check-in at your hotel. During the evening, you will go to Kuensel Phodrang, renowned for its large Buddha statue, where you can admire the spectacular view of the city. Dinner and overnight stay.

  • day 2

    Thimphu Valley

    Day dedicated to visiting the Thimphu valley. The Chorten, built by the 3rd king Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the textile museum, the Zorig Chusum painting school for an introduction to the techniques of the country's traditional art, the National Library and its rare collection of xylographed Buddhist writings (closed on Saturdays), as well as the institute of traditional medicine, will be on the program. Lunch during the visit. At the end of the afternoon, you will go to the Tashichho Dzong. Dinner and overnight stay.

    Thimphu - Gangtey Valley

    Road to the Gangtey valley via the Dochu pass (3088 m) and the superb Phobjikha valley. Arrival in Gangtey. Dinner and overnight stay.

  • day 4

    Gangtey Valley

    In the morning, a short walk around Gangtey. Then, visit to the Gangtey Monastery, the largest Nyingmapa monastery in Bhutan. Lunch. Visit to the nature protection center, which works for the protection of wildlife and especially the migratory birds of the region. You may have the chance to spot some of these iconic animals. Dinner and overnight.

    Gangtey Valley – Bumthang

    Long day of driving to reach the Bumthang valley. Stop in the village of Trongsa after crossing the Pele-la pass, marked by prayer flags. Visit the town's museum, dedicated to the history of the monarchs. At the end of the day, arrival in Bumthang, dinner and overnight stay.

    Bhumthang – Punakha

    Day of travel to Punakha. Stop in the Chhume valley, renowned for weaving its "Yatra" fabrics. You will have the opportunity to meet these skilled weavers. Continue to Punakha via Yotong-La-Pass, with a stop on the way at Chendebji Chorten. Arrival in Punakha. Check-in at your hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

    Punakha Valley – Paro

    Departure for the Paro valley. Located at an altitude of 2200 m and featuring numerous terraced fields, the Paro valley is full of myths and legends. Visit of Ta Dzong, a watchtower converted into a national museum, and Rinpung Dzong, the spiritual and temporal center of the Paro region. Then, visit Kyichu Lhakhang which, built in the 7th century, is one of the oldest sacred sites in Bhutan. Dinner and overnight stay.

  • day 8

    Paro - Taktshang – Paro

    Hike to reach the Taktsang Dzong, nicknamed "the Tiger's Nest" (duration: 4h, elevation gain: 900m). Legend has it that the father of Bhutanese Mahayana Buddhism arrived at this place on the back of a tigress and meditated in this monastery. Lunch. Then, you will go to the ruins of the Drukyel Dzong (under renovation – exterior view only), which commemorates the victory of Bhutanese troops over the Tibetan and Mongol invaders.
