Stay program

  • day 1

    Tuléar-Sarodrano

Breakfast and welcome briefing on the course of the stay, the daily life of the local populations, the Vezos, true nomads of the sea, as well as the basics of life on board the boat. Sailing inside the lagoon for 3 hours to reach the fishing village of Sarodrano. Meals and overnight stay on board the schooner.

  • day 2

    Sarodrano

Breakfast on board, followed by a visit to the village and the Sacred Cave of Sarodrano, literally: "where water is difficult." Indeed, this isolated village from another era, at the end of its peninsula, remains one of the most authentic. There is no running water, forcing the villagers to get their water from the cave, a kind of resurgence from the limestone plateau. It has naturally become a place of worship, because without it, life would no longer be possible. Return from the walk for dinner and overnight on board.

  • day 3

    Saint Augustine

Breakfast on board to build up your strength, then it's time to start the short 8 km trek via "Barn Hill", a majestic cliff named after a former English pirate from the 17th century. From the top of this cliff, a 360-degree panoramic view awaits you: on one side, the Sarodrano lagoon, and on the other, the Bay of Saint Augustin, at the mouth of the Onilahy river. Visit with picnic to the mangrove and refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the natural pool of Saint Augustin. This village, steeped in history, was the haunt of many pirates and other castaways. Dinner at the hotel and overnight on board the schooner.

  • day 4

    Sarodrano-Nosy Ve

After breakfast, 3 hours of sailing outside the lagoon are necessary to reach the island of Nosy Ve, a true sanctuary for the "Pailles en queues," a species of bird endemic to Madagascar that has found refuge on this virgin island. On the way, between June and September, we will have the chance to spot large marine mammals such as humpback whales or large dolphins. Anchoring at Nosy Ve, visit of the island and water activities in the surrounding area depending on weather conditions: diving, snorkeling, surfing, fishing… Meals and overnight stay on board.

  • day 5

    Nosy Ve

Anchoring at Nosy Ve, a morning of relaxation or water activities on the agenda: snorkeling, kayaking, surfing... Possibility to go scuba diving thanks to our partners and the diving clubs of Anakao, ideal for a first dive or to get your certifications. Visit to the village of Anakao, the largest Vezo village on the southwest coast. Dinner and overnight at the hotel or on board the boat.

  • day 6

    Nosy Ve-Tuléar

Breakfast at the hotel before boarding, followed by 5 hours of sailing and the last possible swim inside the lagoon to reach Tuléar. Trolling fishing, lunch on board. Transfer to the hotel-restaurant for the debriefing and farewells.
