This tour was designed for those who wish to discover the pleasures of Namibia's Atlantic coast after an excursion in the desert. It allows you to visit some of Namibia's main tourist attractions in the space of five days. The Namib Desert is the oldest desert on the planet and is distinguished by some of the highest dunes in the world, offering breathtaking views from their summits. You will visit Sossusvlei, Dune 45, the Sesriem Canyon, and Deadvlei. Swakopmund is Namibia's premier seaside destination, with its palm-lined streets, excellent restaurants, seaside promenades, pleasant summer climate, and perfect beaches. This tour departs on Monday.

  • day 1

    Day 1: Windhoek to Sossusvlei

    Jour 1: Windhoek à Sossusvlei

    (Namib Desert Lodge, Gondwana Collection Namibia or similar) The pick-up time is between 08:00 and 08:30 from any location in Windhoek. Windhoek is surrounded by mountains and we have to cross the Eros mountains and the Khomas Hochland range. As we travel through this splendid landscape, we move from the central plateau to the grassy savannah of the desert. We stop at Solitaire to refuel and perhaps also to have afternoon tea before continuing to our lodge. We hope to arrive in the early afternoon. Relax in the arms of the Namib at the Namib Desert Lodge. It is located beneath striking fossilized dunes and offers a spectacular experience of the ancient desert. Its site, its 65 rooms, its two pools, and its waterhole are surrounded by the splendors of the sand. Breathe in the grandeur during a sunset drive and feel the earth under your feet. Sossusvlei is located in the picturesque Namib-Naukluft National Park. There you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib contrasting with a clear blue sky. These unique dunes rise to almost 400 meters, making them the highest in the world. They come alive in the morning and evening light and attract photography enthusiasts from all over the world. Sossusvlei is home to a variety of desert wildlife, including oryx, springboks, ostriches, and a variety of reptiles. Visitors can climb Big Daddy, one of the highest dunes in Sossusvlei.     Day 2: NamibRand Nature Reserve (Namib Desert)

    (Namib Desert Lodge, Gondwana Collection Namibia or similar) We get up early to enjoy the soft light of sunrise over the desert. After passing through Sesriem, we continue towards Sossusvlei, where sand dunes rise on both sides of the road. This iconic landscape is made up of white plains and red dunes that stand majestically against a deep blue sky. These dunes are among the highest in the world. We will stop at the famous Dune 45, a magnificent star-shaped dune that reaches over 170 meters in height. Those who feel fit enough to climb the dune will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surrounding Namibian desert. After breakfast, we will take a walk in the desert in the coolness of the morning, with the possibility of seeing gemsboks, springboks, black-backed jackals, and ostriches. We will also visit the picturesque Dead Vlei. This white clay pan lies between immense orange dunes and is dotted with the skeletal remains of hundreds of dead camelthorns, making it a striking panorama and every photographer's dream. When the day cools down, we will take a short excursion to the Sesriem Canyon. Activities: Dead Vlei, Dune 45, hike in the Sesriem Canyon, Sossusvlei.     Day 3: Sossusvlei to Swakopmund

    (The Delight, Gondwana Collection Namibia or similar) Namibia is a land of contrasts. Today, we will go from the desert to the sea, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn and passing over the Gaub and Kuiseb passes. When we leave the bed of the dry river at the bottom of the Kuiseb canyon, a spectacular desert landscape will open up before us. We will stop at Walvis Bay to admire the flamingos and other birds in the lagoon, and to visit the salt pans. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant and is included in the tour.     Day 4: Swakopmund

    (The Delight, Gondwana Collection Namibia or similar) In the morning, we will visit the vast seal colony of Cape Cross, north of Swakopmund. Swakopmund. Here, you can get close to thousands of wild Cape fur seals and observe them in their natural environment. Swakopmund is a charming seaside town characterized by German colonial architecture, palm-lined streets, excellent restaurants, many shops, and beautiful beaches. You will be free to explore this town for the rest of the day. It offers many things to do, including a good museum and an aquarium. Various optional activities can also be arranged. These include a boat trip (with oysters and champagne), scenic flights and microlight flights over the desert, fishing trips (from the beach or a boat), quad biking in the desert, sandboarding, and skydiving. Your guide will discuss all your options and offer to make pre-bookings. Note that all additional activities in Swakopmund are subject to availability and are carried out at the client's own risk and expense.     Day 5: Swakopmund to Windhoek

    (350km) Today, on the way back to Windhoek, we will pass by marble and gold mines. We will visit the largest craft market in Namibia at Okahandja, the administrative center of the Herero people. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in Windhoek just after lunch, around 14:30. Included in the price: breakfast, lunch, and return transfer to Windhoek.
