  • day 1

    Paris - Reykjavik

    Once you arrive at Keflavik airport, please collect your luggage and go through customs. Pick up your rental vehicle at the airport and head to your hotel in Reykjavik. The rest of the day is yours to organize as you wish. Spend the night in Reykjavik. Option: The Blue Lagoon spa is an ideal stop during your stay in Reykjavik. Enjoy a moment of relaxation at the Blue Lagoon, in a natural pool rich in minerals, located in the middle of a lava field. It is known for its beneficial effects on the skin and attracts visitors from all over the world seeking health, relaxation, and exotic experiences. In addition to bathing in the lagoon, visitors have access to a sauna with a view of the lagoon and a hot tub located in a cave carved into the lava. Visitors can also relax under a small waterfall to enjoy an energizing massage. A luggage room is available next to the main parking lot. (The price for each piece of luggage is about 5 euros). *Please note that admission to the Blue Lagoon must be booked in advance to guarantee access.*

    From Reykjavik to Reykholt/Husafell

    The Whale Fjord: the most powerful spring in Europe, the magical waterfalls Head towards the majestic Borgarfjordur by passing through Hvalfjordur (the Whale Fjord) and its intriguing underwater tunnel (tunnel toll not included). If you do not wish to take the tunnel, you can take the road along the coast. Drive through the town of Borgarnes where you can travel back in time and discover the region's first Viking settlers thanks to the Settlement Museum. Visit Deildartunguhver, the hottest spring in Europe, as well as two beautiful waterfalls: Hraunfossar (the Lava Falls) and Barnafoss (the Children's Falls). At nightfall, your location will be ideal for observing the northern lights, if Mother Nature allows.

    The Borgarfjörður valley and the Langjökull glacier

    The Langjokull glacier and Icelandic stories, Today, set out to explore the Borgarfjordur valley and its surroundings. The Langjokull glacier is full of opportunities for adventure, such as exploring the inside of the glacier thanks to a man-made tunnel dug into the heart of the glacier itself. Access to the tunnel is via a steep slope that you will cross aboard a huge 18-wheel vehicle. Once inside the tunnel, you will enjoy a unique view of the inside of the glacier and learn how these icy wonders are formed. Another captivating visit consists of exploring a cave accompanied by a guide. If the cultural aspect of the trip interests you, visit the surroundings of Reykholt, the home of a chieftain who lived in the medieval era and wrote most of the most important Icelandic stories. Discover the majestic Husafell and stroll along paths lined with rocks painted by a local artist.

    The Golden Circle: Thingvellir, Gullfoss, the geysers

    The national park of geological wonders: the golden waterfalls and geysers Visit Iceland's must-see site! Start with Thingvellir National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), renowned for its history and geological wonders. Observe the majestic Gullfoss waterfalls, created by the waters of a glacial river. Continue to the geyser region with its hot tubs and water gushing from the ground. In the late afternoon, you have the option to drive south to see the Fakasel Icelandic Horse Park. This is a fun activity that allows you to meet Icelandic horses. We recommend the enchanting 45 minutes of the Legends of Sleipnir, a multimedia show about horses highlighting the importance of Icelandic horses for the country's history, mythology, and folklore. After the show, you can go on stage to meet the actors playing the riders. Spend the night at Fosshotel Hekla or in similar accommodation. *Optional activity: Laugarvatn Fontana offers a relaxing environment, full of hot springs and hot tubs. Hot and bubbling, these springs gush directly from the ground. An afternoon or evening of relaxation in the outdoor baths at Laugarvatn Fontana will also give you the opportunity to marvel at Iceland's sky of a thousand and one colors. Please note, it is possible to enjoy the baths all year round.

    Frozen waterfalls and horizons

    Waterfalls – Black sand beaches – Cliffs overlooking the sea and arches sculpted in the rock Travel along the southern route, one of the most agricultural areas of Iceland. You will see many farms and herds of horses all along the Ring Road. Observe the magnificent Skogarfoss waterfall, the site of a hidden treasure. Located near this exceptional site, the Skogar Folk Museum is known throughout the country as the best. Make a stop in the village of Vik, where you can admire a stunning view of a black sand beach and the black columns of Drangey. You will also see glaciers from the road, including Myrdalsjokull and the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajokull. Spend the night at Fosshotel Nupur or Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon. (2 nights)

    Iced Wonders

    The Vatnajokull Glacier – the largest national park in Europe – the glacial lagoon with its icebergs Your hotel is perfectly located to make your day one dedicated to exploring the icy wonders of Vatnajokull National Park, the largest national park in Europe. Visit the majestic Skaftafell area, which is situated between two glaciers and offers many hiking opportunities. Continue your journey to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon, where the blue, white, and black of the icebergs will dazzle you. This mythical lagoon is immense and has been the setting for many films such as Batman Begins and, more recently, Game of Thrones. This place is particularly appreciated by photographers who capture the splendor of the glaciers. Don’t forget to keep a close eye out for seals basking among the glaciers. During the night, if weather conditions are optimal, you might catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Spend the night at Fosshotel Nupur or at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon.

    The south coast of Reykjavik

    The Seljalands waterfall, the volcano center – Geothermal Village Drive along the south coast heading west. Head to Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall that offers the possibility to see it even from the inside. At the Thorvaldseyri Volcano Visitor Center, located at the foot of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, you can observe the 2010 eruption and its impact on the region and the world, both through photos and films. (Note: site closed in December, January, and on weekends) The new Bobby Fischer center in Selfoss is dedicated to the world-famous chess player who defeated the Russian Boris Spassky in 1972 in Iceland. Bobby Fischer spent the end of his life in Iceland and now rests in an Icelandic cemetery. During winter, you can call ahead to book a visit to the museum. Explore Hveragerdi, a village known for its greenhouses based on geothermal energy, where flowers and vegetables grow all year round. Return to Reykjavik in the late afternoon or early evening. Spend the night at Fosshotel Reykjavik or in similar accommodation.

    Please be ready to leave the hotel about 3 hours before your flight departure. Drop off your vehicle at the airport. ** Please note that the package price is based on a 7 days x 24 hours rental, starting from the beginning of the rental. If your flight arrives early on the first day and departs late on the 8th day, an additional supplement will be charged, unless you choose to return the car in Reykjavik when the 7 days of rental are over and use our FlyBus Plus departure transfer. Note: The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and, therefore, it is not guaranteed that you will be able to observe them.
