Trip to Iceland: This 11-day stay will be perfect for visiting every corner of Iceland. Thanks to the car rental, you can set off on an adventure in search of the hidden gem of the trip: the Snaefellsnes peninsula and its glacier. You will discover Melrakkasletta, the northernmost part of Iceland, whose wildlife will amaze you, not to mention exploring the South and East coasts, where you may, if you are lucky, spot the famous puffins! Highlights of the trip: - Visit the most well-known attractions while traveling around Iceland. - Experience less touristy sites for a purely Icelandic experience. - Explore the Snaefellsnes peninsula, the North-East coast, Vopnafjordur, Bakkafloi, and Thistilfjordur.

  • day 1

    Arrival in Iceland

    Geothermal lagoon, flower village, green geothermal houses. Take possession of your rental vehicle at the airport and begin your Icelandic experience. We advise you to head towards the south coast of the Reykjanes peninsula, where you will spend your first night in the enchanting village of Hveragerdi, also known as the "flower village." This small village is one of the few in the world to be built above a geothermal area. It consists of small green houses that draw their heat from the hot water springs present in the ground. Depending on your arrival time in Iceland, it may be possible for you to go relax at the Blue Lagoon.

    Thingvellir - Gullfoss - Skálholt - Þjórsárdalur - Hella

    Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO) - Explosive geysers - Waterfall – Hekla Volcano The day will begin with Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a place that combines both geological and historical wonders. After filling your mind with a thousand marvelous images, you will head to Gullfoss waterfall and go explore the geysers. You can also drive along the Thjorsa river to the Thjorsardalur valley, where the Hekla volcano is located. Finally, set off to discover the south coast, where you will spend the night.

    Hella - Vik - Kirkjubæjarklaustur

    Waterfalls – Puffin colony – Black sand beaches – Lava fields Visit the Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, each with very different features. Continue to Dyrholaey*, a rocky promontory where thousands of puffins bask. (It is generally possible to see these animal species between mid-May and early June.) Travel through the vast Eldhraun lava field to the cute village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur, former site of a 12th-century convent. Rest and spend the night in southern Iceland. *Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during the spring mating season, from mid-May to June 23.

    Skaftafell - Jökulsárlón - Höfn - Egilsstaðir

    Glacier-Ringed Oasis – Frozen lagoon and icebergs – Largest glacier in Europe Today, you will head to Vatnajokull National Park, whose name comes from the largest glacier in Europe. Visit this park, which is located at the foot of this immense glacier. You will have the opportunity to hike there. Continue on to the frozen lagoon of Jokulsarlon, which is home to many icebergs. Drive along the coast bordering the Eastern fjords until you reach Egilsstadir.

    Egilsstadir and its surroundings

    Eastern fjords – Lake of legendary monsters – Largest forest in Iceland Explore Egilsstadir and its surroundings. Visit Hallormsstadur, the largest Icelandic forest, and Lake Lagarfljot, which, according to legend, contains a monster.

    Vopnafjordur - Langanes

    Glacial river – Small fishing village – Northernmost place in Iceland Walk to the village of Vopnafjordur, where you will discover a magnificent coastline as well as several hot springs. After that, head to the village of Thorshofn, located on the Langanes peninsula. Spend the night in the northeast of Iceland.

    Asbyrgi - Husavik - Myvatn

    Whales - Glaciers - Volcanic Zone Travel across the Oxafjardarheidi plateau. You can visit the horseshoe-shaped canyon of Jokulsargljufur National Park. Drive along the Tjornes peninsula and explore the fishing port of Husavik. Stroll through the streets of this charming town before continuing your journey to Lake Myvatn. Spend the night in the northeast of Iceland.

    Akureyri and its surroundings

    Volcanic Region - Mývatn – Botanical Gardens Explore Lake Mývatn, a natural wonder featuring lava formations from the volcanic area of Dimmuborgir and Krafla. Spend some time at the Godafoss waterfall, then head towards the majestic Eyjafjordur fjord as well as the town of Akureyri. There you can admire traditional architecture as well as the best geothermal pools in Iceland. Spend the night in the Akureyri region.

    Akureyri - Stykkishólmur

    Farmlands – Viking horses – Fishing villages Starting from Akureyri, head to Oxnadalur and visit the Skagafjordur region, known for its horse breeding. You will have the opportunity to visit the oldest Icelandic farm at Glaumbaer. Continue your journey to the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Spend the night in western Iceland.

  • day 10

    Snaefellsnes - Borgarnes - Reykjavik

    Coastal villages – Cliffs sheltering birds – Volcanic crater – Fjord Tour the Snaefellsjokull peninsula, passing through small fishing villages such as Hellissandur and Grundarfjordur. Don't miss the massive rock formations of Arnarstapi. Stop at Djupalonssandur, pass by the Eldborg crater, and return to Reykjavik. Spend the night in Reykjavik.

  • day 11

    Return to France

    Meet at Keflavik International Airport and make a stop at the Blue Lagoon, which is on your way if you did not have time to experience it on your first day in Iceland. Return flight to Paris.
