Trip Description

This tour takes you to the holy Mount Kailash. We start our journey in Kathmandu, from where we take a bus to the border town of Kerung. From there, we drive towards Kailash to witness the mystical Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. We then hike around the holy mountain, witnessing the landscape that has religious importance to Hindus as the abode of Shiva.

Stay program

day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu - Transfer to Hotel
After passing through immigration at Tribhuwan International Airport and collecting your baggage, you can find our airport representative waiting for you outside the airport. You will be taken to the vehicle that has been sent for you, which will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Depending on your arrival time, you might have time to explore the surrounding area or visit some nearby heritage sites.
day 2
Full day sightseeing of Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath and Patan
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel, and we shall head to Kathmandu Durbar Square. We shall visit the temple of the living goddess – Kumari, as well as many other temples and monuments that form a cluster in this area. After this, we shall head to the monkey temple, which is situated on a hilltop, where you can enjoy a bird's-eye view of the city of Kathmandu. Then we drive to Patan, another part of the Kathmandu Valley, famous for its arts. You can find numerous idol shops and craftsmen in small alleys, going about their crafts.
day 3
Drive to Kerung - 2800m via Rashuwagadhi
In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel with the rest of your group. Then, we will head north, driving through mountain roads while passing by waterfalls, rivers, and forests. Upon reaching the border, we will be met by our Tibetan guide and driver. Then, we will complete our immigration paperwork formalities and head to the town of Kerung.
day 4
Acclimatization day in Kerung - 2800m
Today, we take short walks and explore the surrounding area to acclimatize ourselves to the higher altitude.
day 5
Drive to Saga - 4350m
Today, we drive to Saga, passing through the Ghantula Pass. We can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Brahmaputra River along the way.
day 6
Drive to Manasarovar - 4500m
Today we drive to Mansarovar via Dongpamahim La Pass. Today we get our first glimpses of Mount Kailash and the holy lake of Mansarovar.
day 7
Drive to Darchen - 4600m
After spending some time enjoying the pristine lake of Mansarovar, we head towards Darchen. Darchen is also known as the base camp of Mount Kailash.
day 8
Drive to Yamadwar - Hike to Dirapuk - 5100m
Today, we drive to Yamadwar, where our hiking trip begins. We walk alongside beautiful hills and waterfalls, with great views of Mount Kailash.
day 9
Hike to Zuthulpuk - 4900m
Before sunrise, we start our walk towards Zuthulpuk. We go via the Dolma La Pass (5630m), passing by the Gaurikunda on the way. By afternoon, we shall reach Zuthulpuk.
day 10
Hike and then drive to Saga - 4400m
Today, we walk for around 2 hours (10 km), after which our hiking trip ends. Then, we catch our bus and drive to Saga.
day 11
Drive to Kerung - 2800m
Today, we drive back to Kerung.

Drive to Kathmandu
Today, we drive back to Kathmandu. We pass through Chinese immigration and complete the formalities. On the other side, our vehicle and driver will be waiting to take us to Kathmandu.
day 13
Final Departure
Today will be filled with good memories. You will be taken to the airport by our transfer. The check-in counter opens around 3 hours before your flight time. Wishing you a good flight back home and hope to see you again.
