Trip Description

During this tour, you will discover the best of Colombia, the diversity of its landscapes, and the warmth of its people. You will be hosted by Duwi and his family in the heart of the coffee region, on a small farmer's farm, and you will finish your program in the Guajira desert, where you will be hosted by an indigenous family in the heart of the desert, for a total immersion in the Wayuu culture.

    Bogotá is perched at 2,600 m altitude, in the heart of the Andes mountain range. With its 9,000,000 inhabitants, it is the political, economic, and cultural capital of the country. It is a cosmopolitan city with a vibrant cultural life. It is also one of the hotspots of Latin American gastronomy, where you can enjoy cuisine that traces Colombian traditions. The Candelaria district: it is a haven of peace, an island in the center of the capital, with its narrow streets perfect for strolling and its colonial buildings with a laid-back look.     Salento is a beautiful village with the typical architectural style of the coffee triangle. You will discover warm people there as well as the history of coffee cultivation. It is from Salento that excursions to the Cocora Valley depart. Private transfer from your hotel to Bogota airport and domestic flight to Pereira (1 hour flight). Private transfer to the small village of Salento (about 1 hour drive).     You will spend two days immersed in the daily life of a coffee-growing family, staying on a traditional farm. Duwi and his family will welcome you into their home as friends and will introduce you to their region and culture. You will discover the art of coffee cultivation, visit a traditional market, the Manizales coffee cooperative, and the small village of Cuchilla del Salado.

    You will go on a beautiful hike through the sumptuous and rolling landscapes of the coffee region. You will play Tejo (a kind of local pétanque) with your hosts.     Duwi will drive you to Pereira airport and flight to Cartagena. (1h30) Private transfer from the airport to your hotel in the historic center of Cartagena de Indias. The many churches that stand within the old city recall the grandeur of its past history.
