Trip Description

Go on a private boat safari to explore the Calamian archipelago. Dive into coral gardens and shipwrecks. Visit stunning beaches, lagoons, lakes, and marine sanctuaries. Swim, kayak, and walk your way to the greatest island adventure of your life. Highlights and activities: - Take a private expedition boat to explore the Calamian Islands. - Spend nights in beach huts. - Visit spectacular islands such as lakes, coral reefs, shipwrecks, caves, and lagoons. Overview: The Calamian or Calamianes archipelago is located in the Sulu Sea, halfway between Palawan and Mindoro. During World War II, the US Navy sank 24 Japanese ships anchored in the calm waters of the islands. Popular history tells that the ships were hiding in the Calamianes, disguised with foliage to make them look like islands to the surveillance planes watching from above. When the pilots noticed, over time, that some islands were changing position, the trick was discovered and the ships became easy targets for the US Navy dive bombers. Whether this story is true or not, one thing is certain: the Japanese chose a magnificent area to anchor their fleet. The group of more than thirty islands has white sand beaches, vibrant coral reefs, spectacular rock formations, as well as picturesque lagoons and lakes. The islands are also rich in culture, home to fishing villages and the Tagbanuas, an indigenous people who live off the sea. This private expedition offers you the most intimate and in-depth experience of the Calamian archipelago. You will visit isolated and uninhabited islands, explore them at your own pace, and enjoy the beauty of nature with your small group to share the adventure.

Stay program

  • day 1

Mount Tapyas and the Maquinit hot springs

Meet at Busuanga airport and drive to Coron. In the afternoon, we take a short hike to a nearby hill to enjoy a magnificent view of Coron and Busuanga islands. We then visit a saltwater spring for a relaxing evening swim.

  • day 2

    Coral reefs and wrecks

Our boat expedition starts early in the morning and our plan for the day is to go snorkeling at our leisure. We visit four spectacular snorkeling sites: the Lusong Gunboat Wreck, the East Tangat Wreck, the Coral Gardens, and Calumbuyan Island. We spend the night in a beach cottage on the beautiful North Cay Island.

  • day 3

    Caves, pirates and island treasures

Today, we are visiting six islands, each with its own particularities. Black Island is easily recognizable from afar because of its black rock. There are also caves with bats. Panlaitan Island is a former pirate hideout and is now home to a fishing village. South Cay has a 3-kilometer-long beach and Pamanican Island has a huge coral reef. We spend the day walking, swimming, and kayaking to explore these islands, and we end the day camping on the beach of Pass Island.

  • day 4

    Sandbanks and giant clams

We are heading towards the southernmost islands of our expedition. Bulog has a large sandbar that connects it to another island, allowing you to walk from one island to another at low tide. Several of these islands have rich coral gardens, and Malcapuya is home to giant clams that you can observe while snorkeling. We spend the night in beach cottages on Banana Island.

  • day 5

Lagoons and lakes of Coron Island

Coron Island has the most famous sites of our expedition. We dive at Skeleton Wreck, the wreck of a small boat that sank very close to the coast. We then visit Twin Lagoons, two large pools surrounded by rocky walls, whose waters are connected to each other and to the sea. We take two short hikes to reach Barracuda and Kayangan lakes, two of the cleanest and most picturesque lakes in the country. Finally, we visit the Siete Pecados marine park and enjoy our last snorkeling spot before returning to Coron Town, where we will celebrate the last night of our adventure with a delicious dinner.

  • day 6

Leaving with memories... Nothing but memories.

Those who are interested can spend the morning shopping in the various craft shops of Coron Town, before we take you back to Busuanga airport.
