  • day 1:

    Arrival to Sri Lanka : Negombo Beach

    Ayu-bowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka. Your adventure begins in the vibrant town of Negombo, located near Bandaranaike International Airport. ­ Upon exiting Colombo International Airport, our Mango Vacations guide will greet you at the arrival lobby and escort you to a comfortable, luxurious vehicle for your transfer to Negombo—your first destination on this exciting tour of Sri Lanka. ­ Negombo is known for its warm, welcoming fishing community. While in town, be sure to visit the Dutch Canal (also known as the Hamilton Canal), a historical waterway that was once part of the colonial spice route used by the Dutch East India Company. The canal links the coast with the Negombo Lagoon and can be explored on foot or by boat, offering a fascinating glimpse into colonial-era Sri Lanka.

  • day 2:

    Anuradhapura

    After breakfast, we will depart for Anuradhapura, a 4-hour drive to one of Sri Lanka's ancient capitals. Anuradhapura is a key site in the Cultural Triangle, an area that includes the historic temples of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, as well as the mountain city of Kandy. ­ As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Anuradhapura is renowned for its well-preserved ruins and its significant role in Sri Lanka's history. It was a stable and prosperous center of political power and urban life in South Asia, contributing to a rich culture and civilization. The ruins you will explore include three main types of structures: dagobas (stupas), monastic buildings, and royal ponds. ­ You will visit the entire UNESCO World Heritage Site of Anuradhapura today, immersing yourself in its ancient history. ­ Afterward, we will return to your cosy hotel to relax. If you're interested, you may also enjoy an Ayurvedic herbal massage at the hotel to unwind further.

    Polonnaruwa

    After breakfast, we will head to Polonnaruwa, the second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms. Following your visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will explore a local village to experience the traditional lifestyle and culture of the people in this beautiful region.

  • day 4:

    Minneriya / Kaudulla National Park

    Next, we’ll embark on an exciting safari at Minneriya National Park, where you’ll have the opportunity to witness hundreds of elephants in their natural habitat. ­ After the safari, we will return to your hotel in Sigiriya, where you can unwind and reflect on the day's adventures.

  • day 5:

    Kandy

    After breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and head to Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka's most famous and captivating sites. Sigiriya, also known as "Lion's Rock," rises approximately 200 meters above the surrounding landscape. Historically, it was used as a royal palace by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. ­ Your visit will include a walk through the ancient wall paintings, the Sanskrit-inscribed Mirror Wall, and the massive stone lion paws guarding the ascent to the summit. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking as you explore the ruins and immerse yourself in history. From here, you can also spot the Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks, home to hundreds of elephants. ­ After exploring Sigiriya, we will proceed to the Dambulla Cave Temple. This will involve a minor climb to explore the impressive temples carved into the caves, showcasing ancient artistry. ­ Next, we’ll travel through Matale, visiting the Hindu Temple and the renowned Spice Garden, where you will learn about Sri Lankan spices and their uses. ­ Upon reaching Kandy, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a traditional cultural dance show, offering you a glimpse into Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage. It promises to be a memorable day!

    Nuwara Eliya Tea Factory & Field Tour

    Today, we will leave Kandy and head to Nuwara Eliya, but first, you will visit the beautiful Botanical Garden in Kandy. ­ Next, we journey to the enchanting tea region of Nuwara Eliya. Along the way, stop at a Ramboda water fall tea factory to learn about the tea-making process and sample a variety of freshly brewed teas. ­ Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as "Little England," showcases charming colonial-era architecture, including landmarks such as the Queen's Cottage, Grand Hotel, Hill Club, and Town Post Office. This picturesque town is nestled in the cold and misty hills, where the heavenly aroma of tea fills the air. ­ End your day in style, savoring the cool climate and serene surroundings. ­ Attractions in Nuwara Eliya: ­ Walk through the historical city Lover's Leap Waterfall Victoria Park Gregory Lake

    Horton Plains

    After a delightful breakfast, set off on an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking Horton Plains National Park. Explore its stunning landscapes, misty grasslands, and lush cloud forests while taking in the spectacular views from World’s End, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic viewpoints. ­ Later, enjoy a visit to the stunning Horton Plains National Park, home to unique wildlife and scenic walking trails.     Scenic train journey & explore Ella

    Afternoon: Following your exploration of the park, enjoy a scenic train journey from Nanu Oya to Ella. This route is celebrated for its spectacular views of lush tea plantations, misty mountains, and charming villages along the way. (Please ensure train tickets are booked at least two weeks in advance.) ­ Logistics: To ensure a seamless travel experience, our guide will handle your luggage and meet you at the Ella train station, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy the journey. ­ Today's highlights include exploring stunning waterfalls, the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, and hiking up Little Adam's Peak for panoramic views. ­ In the evening, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Ella's town center, bustling with a variety of bars and restaurants offering great food and a lively ambiance.

    Yala National Park Safari

    After breakfast, bid farewell to Ella and journey to Yala, where an exciting wildlife adventure awaits. Prepare to spot leopards, bears, and a variety of bird species during the Yala National Park Safari in the evening.     Mirissa

    After breakfast today, we will head to Mirissa, famous for its whale-watching opportunities and picturesque beach. Spend the next two days unwinding on this stunning stretch of coastline, celebrated for its relaxed ambiance and tranquil charm.

    Mirissa

    Mirissa also boasts a lively array of beachfront restaurants and cafes, offering fresh, delicious seafood and breathtaking ocean views, perfect for a laid-back dining experience.

  • day 12:

    Bentota

    After breakfast, head to Bentota via Galle. En route, stop to witness the iconic stilt fishermen of Weligama as they engage in their traditional fishing techniques. Explore the Old Portuguese Fort in Galle, which was later rebuilt and expanded by the Dutch, remaining a well-preserved historical site. Galle, the capital of the Southern Province, boasts a vibrant and colorful history.

    Bentota

    In Bentota, experience a tranquil Madu River safari, navigating through lush mangroves and encountering diverse wildlife. ­ Relaxing days on the beautiful beaches of Bentota, enjoying the serene coastal atmosphere.
