day 1
Arrival in BucharestUpon your arrival in Bucharest, you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy some free time and, in the afternoon, we will organize a pleasant welcome dinner as well as a small friendly party.
day 2
BucharestAfter breakfast, we will visit the largest and most expensive administrative building in Europe, the masterpiece of Nicolae Ceausescu, the Palace of the Parliament or the People's Palace. Afterwards, we will go to the Ghencea cemetery to visit the graves of Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu. After lunch, the road will take us to the Primaverii district, where you will take a short walking tour, followed by a visit to the Primaverii Palace, the permanent residence of the Ceausescu family and other high-ranking officials of the Communist Party during the period 1965-1989. After visiting the Primaverii Palace, we will go to the Romanian Village Museum for a short visit. Accommodation and dinner at the central 4-star hotel.
day 3
Bucharest – Scornicesti – Samburesti – Baile Govora – Rm. ValceaAfter breakfast, we will leave the hotel for Nicolae Ceausescu's native village, Scornicesti. We will visit the birthplace of the Romanian dictator and may have the opportunity to speak with his grandson, who takes care of the property. In less than an hour, we will arrive at the Samburesti wine cellar, Ceausescu's favorite, where we will have a wine tasting and a small snack. The day continues with a visit to the Ocnele Mari salt mines, where you will have lunch. After lunch, we will have a bit of rest, the best opportunity to admire the beautiful countryside of Valea Oltului. Accommodation and dinner in Ramnicu Valcea.
day 4
RM. Vâlcea – Curtea de Argeș – Câmpulung Muscel – TârgovișteWe are now leaving for Curtea de Argeș, to visit one of the greatest achievements of the communist period: the Vidraru dam, located in the Transylvanian Alps, offering a breathtaking landscape. Next, we will visit the Curtea de Argeș Monastery, a UNESCO-listed monument and architectural marvel, built in 1439. We will leave Curtea de Argeș to head towards Câmpulung Muscel, the former capital of Romania, where we will have lunch and take a short walking tour of the city. We will then continue to Târgoviște, crossing magnificent and picturesque landscapes. Upon our arrival in Târgoviște, we will visit the Medieval Royal Court, the Dealu Mare Monastery, as well as the place where the Ceaușescu family was tried and executed on December 25, 1989. day 5
TARGOVISTE – SINAIA – CAMPINA – BUZAUAfter breakfast, we leave for Sinaia, a beautiful mountain town and ski resort nestled in the heart of the Carpathians, where we will visit Peleș Castle, built by the Romanian royal family in 1874. It is considered one of the 10 most beautiful castles in the world in terms of architecture and beauty. Here, the Ceaușescu family spent little time and used it as a temporary residence. Before a visit to the Sinaia Monastery (built in 1695 - one of the most beautiful in the Carpathian massif), we will enjoy a coffee break in the Palace garden, where you can hear beautiful stories about this place or take great photos. The next stop on our route is the Posada Hunting Museum, with the hunting trophies of Nicolae Ceaușescu. After a good lunch in Câmpina, a small town on the hillside of the Carpathians and the place where the first oil refinery was built, we will leave for Buzău and visit the Pietroasele wine cellars, one of the largest in Romania and Ceaușescu's favorite, for a short wine tasting and a brunch in Nicolae Ceaușescu's private lounge. After that, we will go to Buzău where we will be accommodated, spend some free time and enjoy a traditional Romanian dinner in the evening.
day 6
BUZAU – BRAILA – TULCEAThe 5th day of our Romanian journey awaits you with plenty of surprises along the way! The biggest is a beautiful excursion to the Danube Delta. In about 2 hours, we will arrive from Buzau to Braila, one of the oldest cities in Romania, attested since 1350 and a port on the Danube. After a short panoramic tour, we will head towards Tulcea, the gateway to the Danube Delta, with a short stop at the Cocos Monastery (1679), where we will have the chance to admire the oldest mountains in Europe: the Dobrogea Mountains. In Tulcea, we will board a cruise boat and enjoy a short trip in the Danube Delta. We will have lunch, taste a glass of wine or a coffee, then relax while admiring this unique place in Europe. In the evening, we will return to Tulcea for a traditional fisherman's dinner. Accommodation in Tulcea.
day 7
TULCEA – CONSTANTAAfter breakfast, we leave for Constanta, one of the largest cities in Romania, attested since 657 BC, when the first Greeks arrived here. Constanta is also the largest port on the Black Sea and the 4th largest in Europe. We will visit the Romanian seaside with stops at the resorts of Mamaia and Neptun (summer residence of Nicolae Ceausescu). Free time, accommodation and dinner in Constanta.
day 8
CONSTANTA – BUCHARESTOn the way to Bucharest, we will visit the Danube-Black Sea Canal, a creation of Nicolae Ceausescu, known worldwide and inaugurated in 1984 during a spectacular ceremony. We will arrive in Bucharest around lunchtime, have a good meal and enjoy some free time. You can then enjoy a shopping session in the largest shopping center in Romania. In the evening, we will prepare dinner and the farewell party with music, cocktails, drinks, and surprises.
